Well, actually, if I hadn't been character limited I would have called this poll suggestion:

Which character from the Lord of the Rings books is most like your boss ?

Is it Th้oden – "a kindly old man"
Saruman – an office schemer with less power than he thinks he has
Treebeard – just weathers every storm with seemingly limitless patience
Denethor – a pessimist who's world view has been shaped by false images in a palantir (or other media source)
Gandalf – a lord of wisdom
Aragorn – noble and honourable and fiercly loyal to the team

Or someone else ?

MY ex boss was differently Sauron. Never around, but once in a while he turn the evil eye on you and mess everything up.

My boss for 16 years of my job was an ignorant, foul, piece of cockney white trash. He was a buffoon and staggeringly incompetent. He held his job only because he was the CEO's but boy, drinking buddy and ass-kisser. He made everyone's life miserable and intrigued shamelessly and blatantly including against his own drinking buddy. When he died of lung cancer I was one of the four people who went to the funeral no one else went to the funeral, even his CEO buddy. I went- the forms must be obeyed. For the last two years of my employ I worked for the Director of Manufacturing who was a man of infinite good humor, patience, kindness, and extremely effective management. My life was a paradise.

Sauron? You have to have ability to be Sauron.

My last Boss was definitely Aragorn. The one before that was more like a vixen who was all out for herself, didn't care for the team & used me to help run the dept when she realized I would work for the team & was totally uninterested in her as anything else but a Boss.

Hitman19 Oct 2017 8:06 a.m. PST

My boss is definitely Sauron. She is never around, but shows up once in a while. She will then turn the evil eye on you and mess everything up. She doesn't explain her motives, but only gives partial answers and expects you to follow orders when she hasn't explained them clearly enough leaving everyone in disarray and wondering what they are suppose to do to coordinate getting things accomplished.

Galadriel – wields a lot of power, but is tempered by humility, and team spirit. Trusts me and rest of our team to do our jobs, but can grab the One Ring when needed.

That's one of the reasons I still work here in spite of better money elsewhere.

Aragorn – noble and honourable and fiercly loyal to the team

Elrond – noble, intellectual and never around

Palewarrior19 Oct 2017 8:56 a.m. PST

Radagast – Very clever in an odd sort of way, quiet and kind, but will attack any wrong doers without mercy ! He also looks like he lives in his clothes ;-)

ZULUPAUL --Sounds like you had a Shelob, trying to turn you into her Gollum.

I've had all kinds, including one who was Sauron at work, and Uncle Bilbo away from it.

Aragorn. My boss before I retired was both a very good leader, great businessman and a personal friend. I'm paying for a plane ticket and hotel/car just to fly back next summer for his retirement party.

Wormtongue. Spreads mistrust with lies and does his bosses dirty work when not kissing his behind.

Gone Fishing19 Oct 2017 10:35 a.m. PST

I have always had a good deal of sympathy for my bosses, as it can be a thankless and lonely position. I am now self-employed and so don't need to worry about it much. However, it is just as worthwhile to wonder, at least occasionally, how our bosses would describe us.

Wow, Hitman and I somehow worked for the exact same Dark Lordess! He nailed my last boss -- and why I had to quit.

I have actually endured a legion of Sauron bosses -- or perhaps it was the entire herd of Nazgul.

Smeagol! no idea what goes on in the office, hides in her own office, disliked by everyone.

PrivateSnafu19 Oct 2017 12:48 p.m. PST

Mine is sort of like a chubby hobbit that would rather go to the tavern.

That gets my vote for best boss!

Greylegion19 Oct 2017 7:56 p.m. PST

Aragorn Treebeard. The absolute best supervisor I have ever worked for. He's been with the company for 41 yrs.

Old Wolfman20 Oct 2017 7:13 a.m. PST

Immediate boss-man on my crew,is a rather decent dude,Gandalf style,I'd guess.

Grima Wormtounge – Busy sucking up to those with more power and scheming to get more for himself. Yet doesn't have the ability to lead a latrine digging detail.
