Which set of rules would you recommend?

Tgunner18 Oct 2017 4:09 p.m. PST

Panzer Blitz of course.

Bill, What scale, size of units and level of complexity are you looking for?

Rudysnelson18 Oct 2017 4:30 p.m. PST

IDF for tactical level. Like Panzerblitz, I have seen these modified for miniatures.

Oldgrumbler18 Oct 2017 4:42 p.m. PST

Fistful of Tows for any modern micro armor.

"Arab-Israeli Wars" was the actual AH game (based on Panzer Blitz/Leader). Wish I still had it…

I was thinking about these rules:

Use your copy of ¨Arab-Israeli Wars¨ and you are in business.

Also, the ¨Arab-Israeli Wars¨ is still easy enough to find on Ebay.

That's pretty cool… Looks like you could use FOW based miniatures, but they would count as platoons instead of teams/squads. Hmmmm…

If company/battalion level, folks have recommended
Battlefront WWII (from Fire and Fury). They have all you need for AIW on their website.
For one stand = platoon, folks have mentioned Modern Spearhead, Cold War commander and Fistful of TOWS.

That is what I'm thinking. I love Team Yankee (FOW in a modern setting), but I've wanted to play Panzer Blitz/AI War as a miniatures game since I was a kid in college. I will be trying this out.

Command Decision

Old school, WRG 1950-80 for individual vehicle/fire-team. Battlefront has a lot of support on the website for AIW. Chadwick published an OB guide for Command Decision recently if you want to go platoon/stand. I've run several AIW games with Command Decision from Combined Arms to the current CDTOB version.

We use IDF, but modify the movement rate. Otherwise you basically sit there.

Anyone have a link for IDF? Googling it will turn up a zillion other things instead of the rules.

Refine your search.

Idf Avalon hill works pretty well.
