Hi,

Have ordered from domsdecals before so I am aware that it is run as a sideline, that it is not quick (my previous orders took around 3 week or so) and that he is not good at answering emails or the telephone.

However, I recently placed an order and made a mistake which I would like to correct. No luck in trying to contact him and after looking into it have read on hear that his backlog is getting worse, maybe as much as 5 months.

Has anyone had any contact recently, email/telephone or received an order – if so when was that and how long did your order take.

Quite frustrating, feeling my only recourse is to contact him is to raise a PayPal dispute – I don't want to – but it may be the only option.

I haven't seem him on TMP in a few weeks, hope he is fine.

The Banana Man!

Yes, hope that all is well. Just a nice little holiday or the like.

AC196317 Oct 2017 11:38 p.m. PST

I hope so too, his products are great.

But it is so frustrating when all you want to do is to correct an order but there is no apparent way of doing that or contacting him.

Also, whilst I don't mind waiting I'm a bit concerned of reports of 5 month wait times.

Sorry I'm seriously all over the place at the moment – spectacular overdose of real life for a good few months left me badly backlogged, and just as I was starting to catch up I rather ruined things by starting a new day job, which has had me on 6 day weeks a fair bit, and left me with serious free time issues. I'm still going, and slowly denting the backlog, but it's certainly substantial at the moment, sorry.

With regards to your order, I can't see anything in my inbox from you, although I have an order in a different name (NH) that seems to fit your description – have received several emails from that one, and replied twice. Assuming NH is you, yes I'm still going, have received your order, and will invoice for the extra when it's all printed and ready to post – at the moment I'd have to guess that's as likely to be early next month as later this month unfortunately. If you'd prefer refunding just let me know.

AC196318 Oct 2017 1:46 a.m. PST

Thanks Dom,

Yes that is my order. So you zwill invoice me for the extra when printed – n happy to pay now if you want.

Next month would be great, better than I was expecting.

If you have replied to my emails then I'm afraid that they are not getting through.

Emilio30 Oct 2017 3:33 p.m. PST

Hi Dom

My order payed in July is still missing. I already sent you several emails. Hope that you saw them.

Bytheway, nice that you are ok.

Emilio.

JOACHIM PAX08 Nov 2017 5:07 a.m. PST

Hi Dom, I also placed a small order on the 20th of September and despite many e-mails from different addresses, I never had any reply from you. (Argentinian roundels and two Tumbling Dice aircraft packs) #5735
Glad to hear that you're OK and just wondering when I can expect to get it?

acctingman186908 Nov 2017 7:25 a.m. PST

So, I'm in the need of some decals and it sounds like Dom is MIA or months behind. Not going that route.

Are there alternatives?

Blackhorse MP08 Nov 2017 9:20 a.m. PST

Beware. I'm still awaiting decals ordered back on 13 August.

Sent multiple emails which went unanswered until I mentioned a disgruntled thread here on TMP.

Dom, if you're around, how about the status of order #5640?

acctingman186908 Nov 2017 10:53 a.m. PST

Thanks for the heads up.

Feel for those waiting.

I've had an order in since beginning of July, only a small order, but, to be honest, I've kinda given up on ever seeing it.
It's sad if Dom has some 'real life' issues going on, but even if I ever see my order, Would I use Doms service again? I like to use the smaller manufactures, as, aside from the big companies, a lot of this hobby is serviced from smaller vendors as well. But, where is the cut off? I want to support Dom, even with my tiny order, but wheres the line where I say 'b*llox to it', and order from a big, faceless corporation(!) where I know I'll get my order.

It would be good if Dom could post a regular update as to where he is, as regards clearing his backlog. Unfortunately this time I have had to get my German DAK decals from another source as I need to apply these at a very early stage in the painting process and therefore don't want to be waiting too long for them .

A regular update would, I think restore some confidence as I have had very good service from Dom in the past and hopefully the status quo will be resumed in the future.

JOACHIM PAX06 Dec 2017 3:49 a.m. PST

Yep, that's quite sad, Dom is a good chap and was sometimes slow to answer but it's been nearly 3 months now and he doesn't even reply to any of my emails….

Blackhorse MP06 Dec 2017 3:21 p.m. PST

And still here I sit waiting, almost 4 months now…

AC196306 Dec 2017 5:07 p.m. PST

So Dom, what is going on?

On 17th Oct you came on here and said that all was in hand, saying more likely "early next month, rather than late this month", meaning early November.

I have been very patient and we are now in December and still no sign, still no communications.

You claim to have email problems – well that has been going on over a year and frankly I don't believe it. And your telephone still rings unanswered.

I still want the decals, but you need to be honest with me (and all of those that have paid you money). We are being far more patient than you deserve, if you are working through the backlog and can give us realistic estimates then great, otherwise, stop taking the mickey.

DanWW207 Dec 2017 5:10 p.m. PST

Dom was the only source I could find for yellow turret numbers suitable for an early war 1/56 scale panzer project.

I'm still waiting on that order, but in the meantime, Rob at Mehusla Decals had responded to my suggestion; had the decals printed in Japan, and shipped them to me in about a fortnight.

AC196310 Dec 2017 3:05 p.m. PST

I have sent several chase up emails. Not surprisingly not a single response to any of them.

I don't mind so much if he is behind schedule if only he would show some adult behaviour then I'm sure we would be a lot more understanding.

But just ignorring the problem hoping it will go away, making pathetic excuses about emails and telephones not working is simply childish.

Hoping for some sensible response but not holding my breath.

ScootyPuffJunior10 Dec 2017 9:20 p.m. PST

I ordered some stuff in the middle of May this year (order #5439 and never received them. It's a real shame too because he has some decals I could really use for an upcoming project (7th Armoured Division combined badges) but I have a feeling I would never see them.

JOACHIM PAX11 Dec 2017 12:34 a.m. PST

I'm afraid I'm going to cancel my order and maybe place another one when Dom will be able ti reply to my messages – and to ship what has been ordered.
This is quite sad, Dom.

mysteron Supporting Member of TMP11 Dec 2017 3:01 a.m. PST

To rub salt into the wound I still see his advert occasionally on here.

I think you guys deserve an update at the very least

AC196312 Dec 2017 11:55 a.m. PST

More reminders sent – nothing.

If I hadn't received decals from him before I would have sworn that he is a con merchant because that is how he behaves.

As it is I know he produces good stuff and has supplied them in the past. He clearly has some problems but rather than behave in an adult manner and let his customers know he simply retracts into a ball, ignoring all communications and spouting lies about emails and telephones not working.

I would love to get my decals, Dom is about the only one that supplies that market but it is difficult to carry on like this.

If he just stayed in touch and told the truth no matter how bad it is I could deal with that. But there is no way of dealing with his childish behaviour other than hand it over to PayPal.

Have to say that I am thoroughly disappointed because

1) I know he can produce good products
2) That I still want the products
3) That I would be prepared to wait if I was kept informed
4) But this pathetic 'radio silence' is something that you just can't deal with

And I apologise if there is some genuine reason, I would love to be sympathetic but impossible to do that when you are ignored.

Flight Deck Decals 240012 Dec 2017 6:45 p.m. PST

AC1963,

Had a similar experience. Have one advantage. I can make decals. Just didn't want to invest time in design and production so ordered from Dom. Finally gave up after months of no response and made my own 1/600 aircraft decals. What are you looking for in decals? I focus mostly on CV decks but will be happy to help.

AC196313 Dec 2017 10:29 a.m. PST

1:300 British and German markings for aircraft of the Battle of Britain.

What annoys me the most is that I recommended Doms Decals publicly to a lot of people. Although no one is blaming me I feel terrible that I have encouraged people to buy from DD but have nothing to show for it.

Andy ONeill13 Dec 2017 10:49 a.m. PST

I hope he's just busy and nothing bad has happened.

GGouveia13 Dec 2017 1:43 p.m. PST

I never had any problems in the past ordering from Dom so I hope he is healthy.

Flight Deck Decals 240013 Dec 2017 4:45 p.m. PST

AC1963,
Shoot me an email at FlightDeckDecals2400@comcast.net for BB decal info.

AC196314 Dec 2017 2:40 a.m. PST

@GGouveia

I too have ordered without problems in the past and really happy with the product.

But the current problems have been going on for over a year now and whilst people are reporting that they are receiving orders they have had to wait 6 months or so.

Dom doesn't help himself by not responding to emails, not answering his telephone, and coming on hear every now and then saying that everything is getting back to normal when it clearly isn't true.

JOACHIM PAX15 Dec 2017 12:07 p.m. PST

For my part, and after sending a last mail via PayPal to Dom without any kind of answer from him, I just handed the matter to PayPal. And this is sad and disappointing, yes, because Dom seems to be a good chap and was sometimes a bit slow but at last he answered mails.

Anarchy18 Dec 2017 11:36 p.m. PST

Dom,
When you get a chance, can you check on Order# 5438 from May 18th, please? I'd just like to know that you got it.

I've emailed you again and no response.

AC196321 Dec 2017 12:30 a.m. PST

@Anarchy

Blimey, that doesn't sound good. Mine are just two months without any progress which I thought was bad enough. But if people are still waiting after 7 months I think it is time to get PayPal involved.

SpeedCrazedMoron22 Dec 2017 6:39 p.m. PST

From posts about this place you get a picture of, well, I get a picture of, Dom being a potentially troubled soul. However, having his website up and running, accepting money and not delivering the goods is fraudulent and it doesn't matter what kind of a 'good chap' you've been in the past.

Which is to say, I've made a claim through Paypal and will never buy from Dom again on principle.

Cleon 1724 Dec 2017 4:11 a.m. PST

I'm still waiting for order 5704 from early September. I actually registered here in the off chance I'd be able to get in touch with Dom for an ETA.
Seeing others with earlier numbers is re-assuring that they've not gone missing, but not overly reassuring they'll arrive anytime soon.
At this point I'd just like a solid "I'm on order 'x' from'date'" so we know where we are.

deephorse25 Dec 2017 4:33 p.m. PST

having his website up and running, accepting money and not delivering the goods is fraudulent

Under English law, which Dom is governed by, that is insufficient to substantiate an allegation of fraud.

Andy ONeill26 Dec 2017 5:22 a.m. PST

Fraud requires some deliberate act with the intention of gain through deception.

deephorse26 Dec 2017 10:48 a.m. PST

Not really. The Fraud Act 2006 removed all references to deception. Now no-one needs to be deceived for a possible offence of fraud to be proved. What needs to be present is dishonesty in some form, and it is up to the court/jury to decide if someone's actions are dishonest, not members of TMP.

AC196326 Dec 2017 4:13 p.m. PST

I'd not aure that I agree that Dom is acting dishonestly, as deephorse says that would be upto a court to decide if it were ever to come to that.

However, I do think his behaviour is pretty poor. Okay he may have personal problems and the sort of people who are members on here would be sympathetic and make allowance if they felt they were being kept informed.

But all we actually seem to get from Doms is ignorance and lies. It is a pretty poor show and I do agree that keeping his website up and running when he is unwilling or unable to deliver the service is irresponsible.

I'm finding his childish behaviour too much, I would really love to receive my decals but I'm no longer confident that I will and suspect that I will have to hand the issue over to PayPal in the New Year.

Windward29 Dec 2017 7:22 p.m. PST

This is sad, I have dealt with Dom for years without problems. But I have not made any orders recently, so I can't add anything to this thread, but I think going to PayPal is the right choice.

If he isn't delivering, they should cut him off.

Blackhorse MP30 Dec 2017 3:41 p.m. PST

This I received from Dom on Sept 8th:

Your envelope's in the pile on my desk now though; marked up and just waiting for a last sheet to make it out of the reprint pile, so it should be on the way in the next few days; I'll email a confirmation when it actually goes out of the door though. Many thanks for your patience and understanding.

All the best,
Dom.

Over 3 months is a bit more than a "few days" I'd say. No? And still I wait…

Order #5640 Dom, if you're out there.

Tassie31 Dec 2017 4:47 a.m. PST

Same experience here, unfortunately.
Ordered at the beginning of September.
Sent several emails as a gentle nudge/reminder. Nothing.
Ran out of patience in November and got a PayPal refund.
Very disappointing, as until this year, I'd say my transactions with him had always been quick and efficient.
I wish him well, but it's the not-replying-to-emails-bit that isn't right.

GGouveia31 Dec 2017 5:04 p.m. PST

I've always had good experience with Dom in the past. Health issues? I find it hard to believe all this is deliberate. There must be some pretty damn good reasons for the lack of response.

Antioch01 Jan 2018 2:14 a.m. PST

Understand the open web site & frustration at no response…. but Has anyone local too him actually talked to him?

Cleon 1701 Jan 2018 4:33 p.m. PST

I was in the area recently, but I wouldn't know where to find him. The address on his site appears to be a postal pick up point at a petrol station.

SpeedCrazedMoron01 Jan 2018 5:20 p.m. PST

Filed a PayPal claim and got an uncontested refund the other day.

To have that website running is, morally, if not actually legally, fraudulent, in my opinion. Avoid.

mysteron Supporting Member of TMP01 Jan 2018 9:56 p.m. PST

The use of the term fraudulent is a tad too strong IMO.The intention probably was and is to fulfill all the orders .However the timescales have now got unacceptable and an explanation IMO is needed or a refund.

deephorse02 Jan 2018 5:35 a.m. PST

I was in the area recently, but I wouldn't know where to find him. The address on his site appears to be a postal pick up point at a petrol station.

Except that it isn't. It's a terraced house adjacent to the filling station. Moving on, has any UK purchaser tried complaining to Trading Standards? Would PayPal refuse to process his payments after ‘x' number of refund claims? That might prevent others from losing money. How about Bill removing the banner advert that's still here?
