At Mr Neveu, you can see pretty French houses in 15/20mm which are available for the French campaign of 1814. I do not post all the houses but there is a lot of them.

Every once in a while, Armand, you really do us a service …

At last, some French houses that look naturally *French*. By a Frenchman, strangely. This man's whole catalogue is a great discovery, and those 1814 buildings will serve on battlefields for the next 150 years – note how the painting has avoided the late 19c conceit of exaggerated black/white contrast.

My only thought concerning the Champagne region in 1814 is that many rural buildings would probably be thatched. But these tiled roofs also extend the use of these models more easily into later periods.
