I have just started a tentative foray into 54mm Pulp and VSF Gaming (okay, I've been doing it for a while!) and was wondering if anyone else on the forum followed suit. I have done a few sculpts/conversions and these can be seen on my blog
link I have also started on my some Chinese town inspired scenery. Please feel free to swing by and have a look. Comments and criticisms are always welcomed.
Cheers

Looks good. Going with 54mm gives lots of fodder for conversion.

Great conversion work on the female landing party.

I'm looking to go 1/8 scale actually… (-;)

Wow really excellent work!

Nothing but admiration here. Really looking forward to where those air pirates go!

Now, tnjrp, after seeing a game at GenCon, I wanted to do Aliens in 1/6. I've a few 12 inch bugs, several not-GI Joes, started some weapon and uniform modes, and plenty of Barbie's and Kens for hapless colonists.

Strive for larger… ;->=

Still in boxes in the basement, alas.

Very nice! As noted lots and lots of scope for gaming and conversions in 54mm

I enjoyed that!

Deeply inspiring as always. One of my biggest hobby wishes is for a range of dedicated Pulp figures in 54mm. Think of a Not-Indy, Tott, Rick of Rick's (and Sam!), mummies, women fair and foul, mad scientists, cultists…the mind boggles. The genre is made for the scale and the scale made for the genre in my humble opinion.

Thank you for sharing. And please keep doing so!

Gone Fishing!

You couldn't be more right!

And given some of the decidedly screwball items (to me, at least) made in 54mm plastic which must have a very limited audience, I'd think Pulp and literary heroes and heroines would sell at least as well.

I've always wanted the principal characters of "The Prisoner of Zenda" in such scale for use with my old "Mad Dogs And Englishmen" RPG.

I think the problem, however, is that the main manufacturers of the latest generation of 54's are based overseas (or at least produced there) so are out of touch with the US RPG market.

If the Russian makers--who do stunning work--or Chinese knew about us, they might give it a go, but I just don't have the chops or skills to alert them.

Anyone have ideas?

You might find some use for the Marx recast Untouchables set.

I plan to try "pulp alley" using 54mm figs from Marx Playsets. I have a Jungle Jim set, an Untouchables set, a Tom Corbett set and a few others that would work. But for a pulp game I think that the Jungle Jim figs and accessories, and possibly added Marx dinosaurs should make a great game!

Thank you Everyone, for your very kind comments.
Gone Fishing, TVAG, I am right there with you guys. It is very frustrating and I get very envious when I see the figures produced for 28/32mm. Hopefully this will change in the near future. 79thPA, I have the Marx Untouchables and hopefully I will get around to painting the uniformed cops to go with a New Ray 39 Chev that I converted into a Black and White. Another source of civvy figures for bystanders/possible conversion material is the Chinese 1/32 architectural figures. 100 figures for 40 bucks on Ali Express but check the size first!

Oh, boy--this is tangential. But does anyone remember the Games Workshop game that was done in (I think) 54mm? It was 40k or Necromunda themed, and very nitty-gritty. I think you just played one or a couple of characters. Anyway--does anyone know what the name of the game was? It wasn't successful, so I believe it was only around for one season.I tried googling it, but there's too much GW noise.
