As I gather the forces of my Chaos Space Marines, one of the units that has caught my eye are The Fallen, those Dark Angels who during the Horus Heresy aligned with the Warmaster and turned traitor to their Emperor. I have always like the enigmatic Cypher with his two pistol wielding ensemble and the Sword of Lion strapped forever on his back. Along with him are sometimes other Fallen (The Dark Angels never speak of this and will Power Fist anyone who speaks of it) and I like the idea of sometimes including these heretics looking for redemption (or are they???) in my Chaos force. So here is the question. I have seen the Fallen painted up as regular Dark Angels green but with the winged sword icon being black and I have seen them with black power armor leaving the winged sword icon white. Which is it? Also red seems to figure in some of the trim and accents of the armor. |

Pre-hersey Dark Angels wore black so my take is any fallen angels would be wearing the old black colour scheme rather than the post hersey dark green. |

I think they would use the old black/red color scheme. |

Never go wrong with black and red |

Agreed--legion colors make sense:

Ah! Makes sense. Here is a follow up question. The image that Randall provided above is of the Mark II with a mix of the Mark III pattern of power armor. I have a ten man marine sprew from the Kill Team box set that are in what looks like mostly Mark VII and Mark VIII patterns, in other words post Horus Heresy armor variants and I was going to get the Dark Angel conversion pack to make these my Fallen unit. However, it would seem to be more "fluffy" to perhaps pick up the Mark III plastic set with the Dark Angle conversion pack and some Chaos bits to create this unit. Of course that gets a bit expensive but might be really cool to see on the table. What are your thoughts. Would you just use the Mark VII/Mark VIII with Dark Angels bits or go the whole Mark III conversion route? |

IIRC, there have been Fallen since the original group, right? They could be in newer armor painted either green or black (to match the previous members)? |

I would mostly go with the MKIII stuff but it certainly isn't impossible that you would have later Fallen or even Fallen that were able to obtain later mark armour. |

Yea I was thinking that Fallen could have replaced their kit with newer stuff having taken out their DA brethren who had been sent to capture/eliminate them. Although the Mark III with some conversions would be cool. I did some investigation and of course Forge World has some nice 30K options for the Dark Angels. |

Well after reading some more fluff I have decided to actually go with the Mark IV Heresy Armor and using the Dark Angels conversion pack. I picked up a box today and as if to say I must do this I won a bid on the new Cypher figure and it arrived in my mail box today. So Cypher and the Fallen will soon be joining my Chaos Space Marine force. I will post photos. |
