yet another video, showing how a swamp can preserve old armor.

It is a rare flamethrower version of T-34. Taking aside all these "shocking" from video description it is in very good shape. Looking at the robes of our Emergency Situations Ministry, it seems that the tank is recovered near Velikiye Luky.I'm sure it will be running soon , as the mechanic saying that it is almost intact.

The channel has some other interesting videos, too.
Also gives you a feeling of a job of WWII recovery teams…imagine doing this under fire..

Barin,

Is this a recent recovery?

FABET0109 Oct 2017 3:37 p.m. PST

Not even bottomless swamp will stop Glorious Motherland's tanks! evil grin

Quite the find, Barin. Is she going to go to a museum?

Barin109 Oct 2017 11:59 p.m. PST

I've made a search, and I found that this particular tank travelled to far north, where its crew was drafted during WWII. Not in the museum, but at least it is a memorial.

And there were other finds near Velikiye Luki later on, in 2009

and before.
There's another one recovered in Voronezh region in 2016

This one went to Alabino "Military Disneyland" so I guess I might even see it there…
Found a story about a Stug recovered near Velikye Luki in 2002…with some bribing and corruption it ended in one of the collections in the West.
Nowadays the state is trying to keep control at least for armor/planes, etc., but still a lot of "black archeologists" are in the fields…

Must be at least the third time I've seen this on TMP.

Barin110 Oct 2017 11:21 a.m. PST

well…I've posted several other videos, including the tank getting out of the swamp on its own, but don't recall seeing this one. However you might have better memory than me…

Regardless … it demonstrates how durable, efficient, etc. the Russia design was. You probably wouldn't find a similar thing occur with a IFJ Type 94, 95, 97, etc. evil grin

Damn! That was so cool1 Legion 4, great point too. Thanks for posting…
