When the enemy forces are overwhelming how do you handle the withdrawal?

Generally, by reciting the magic words "I don't see a way to win this one" picking up the troops and going out for pizza. If the scenario is supposed to be a fighting withdrawal, that's different. But they're tricky designs. |

Send in the cavalry to screen your retreat; roll lots of fives and sixes; hum the tune "Que Sera, Sera." |

Step 1, get out the loaded dice… But seriously, it is completely dependent on the situation. |

Refuse your flanks, then say smugly,… "You might as well pack it in, I've got the interior lines now." |

Pick a few units you don't like, assign them to the aristocratic imbecile forced on you by the big brass, tell him "I say, Hubert, hold up those chaps there" and run like the devil with the rest of the army |

Hunker down and call in arty on my position…well, my troop's position. If nothing else, it scares off the other guys. |

They're not real people. They're lead. They'll be back to fight again next game. Go out with a bang. |

If I came to the game, saw that the game was overwhelmingly unbalanced I would simply spread out my troops, attack all along the line and give the cheating opponent his victory and then go home and never play another game with him. |

I think CPT Jack Sparrow did the correct thing in that situation ! |

When you're outnumbered, attack immediately. The enemy's weakest point and its leader are the best targets of the attack, but even if you can't reach them easily, you must attack. The foregoing maxim is true for any period and for nearly any sizes of forces. |

The Colonial era? I believe the most widely applied maxim then was… the Maxim. |
etotheipi | 09 Oct 2017 5:00 a.m. PST |
How do you handle being outnumbered?" By being better. When the enemy forces are overwhelming how do you handle the withdrawal? Depends on the situation. In general, you should always have an extraction plan. ----- Two answers because "outnumbered" and "overwhelmed" are two different things. |

If there are victory points then try to gain as many as possible. If not then to make such a fight that songs and stories will long be told. If withdrawal is the best option then I tend to run a fighting withdrawal with succeeding lines of delay, a variation on the classic defense in depth. |

It depends, If it forces a game that is out of the interesting set of games, conceed and go for a drink. An uninteresting game is thj pits and not worth playeing. If it looks to be intersting play on and have fun. Who cares who wins if its challengeing and fun. If its just dice rolling life is TOO SHORT to waste it rolling dice. |
