I'll be running Herero and Nama games at Fall-In. Also, the Herero War book is now available in Germany. For details go to: hererowars.com.

Upcoming updates to the website – photos and AAR's from the Nama games playtested so far:

Zwartfontein, Gochas (these two scenarios have now been finalized), Aob, Hartebeestmund, Narudas (these three require at least one more playtest each). And there are other battles in the queue, including the biggie Gross-Nabas, a two-day battle that will require two scenarios to capture.

Roy, the new scenarios sound great! I'm slowly collecting the forces I need for the scenarios in your outstanding book. I've started with the Germans.
Cheers,
JB

Any chance to find it in the US?

rjones6928 Oct 2017 2:40 p.m. PST

Thanks a lot, Jeff! I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the book.

kcabai, the book is available in the U.S. through Recreational Conflict ( recreationalconflict.com ) and On Military Matters ( onmilitarymatters.com ).

The book is exceptional value for all colonial gamers. The scenarios and special rules, though written with TSATF in mind, are readily adaptable to other colonial rules, such as MWWBK.

I'm also slowly assembling German and Herero forces (not so many of the latter readily available) and looking forward to seeing the latest updates.

Having played in a couple of Roy's games when I lived in Virginia, I can attest to the depth and accuracy of Ray's Herero knowledge: a testament to his research and passion. TSATF proved to be wonderful rules for gaming the confilict.

I could not have said it better than wargaming USA! I mirror his sentiments exactly.
Cheers,
JB

It would be nice if a manufacturer could pick Roy's brain and build a good sized line of the Herero and Nama figures based on his advice. I mean there are miniatures of the Germans. Who are they going to fight against?

Bowman, in 15mm check out my blog for figures suggested by Dr. Jones himself:

And in 20mm, one could try these:

Oh, sorry, let's not forget 25/28mm:

Thanks so much for the kind words everyone. I'm so glad to know people are enjoying the Herero book. You've provided me with encouragement to work hard on finishing the Nama book!

Basha Felika24 May 2019 1:19 p.m. PST

Just wondered if there's an update on the planned Nama book?

rjones6926 May 2019 2:21 a.m. PST

I'm aiming for a release of the book next year at Historicon 2020.

Basha Felika26 May 2019 3:32 p.m. PST

That IS good news :-)
