Meaning no disrespect, what were they doing in Niger?
That's ex French North Africa, their … ahem … sphere of influence. I hear they're pretty good at that sort of thing.

Africa Command says the U.S. forces are in Niger to provide training and security assistance to the Nigerien Armed Forces in their efforts against violent extremists.

Easily done by the French, who are much more ruthless and pragmatic.
Not our problem.

It is a tragedy to lose any member of our armed forces regardless where they are ordered to serve. My heart and prayers go out to those men and their families. Why they were sent there is a topic for another discussion.

Maybe an IED hit or RPG to a vehicle to knock off that many.

A good kill count but seeing as they made it back I guess not a total success for the militants.

to side with French in Africa isn't a good idea… African French Policy it's a mess… they support puppet Governments whose leaders do not make the interests of their own people and, in practice, wage only a token or fake war VS Islamic terrorists.. Deleted by Moderator
