TSD10112 Oct 2017 11:31 a.m. PST

Looking for some decently painted 28mm fantasy figures at a reasonable price, to flush out Frostgrave warbands and Dragon Rampant lists.

capncarp12 Oct 2017 7:21 p.m. PST

Dear Santa Moe:
I have been a very good little boy this year: so Mrs. Carp says I can spend my allowance on some nice things this Fall-In!
Do your AQTMF offerings include any infantry figures, European or otherwise? Martians also welcome.
I hope this Christmas will be better than last year: all I got then was this dumb ol' Official Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine-Action Range Model Air Rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

capncarp12 Oct 2017 7:47 p.m. PST

Turkey trots to water GG Where, repeat, where, will Tree Girl be at Fall-In? RR The world wonders

Moe the Great13 Oct 2017 6:06 a.m. PST

Yes, we have infantry and lots of martians, although they are all us infantry.

Poniatowski17 Oct 2017 5:08 a.m. PST

I am very interested in seeing what you have fro War machine!

And yes.. there will be a an additional midnight madness flea market session at the show.

flashman217 Oct 2017 6:29 a.m. PST

I'm bringing a lot of 15mm buildings. I have a large about of finished Paper Terrain sets and painted ruined WWII buildings.

Moe the Great17 Oct 2017 6:39 a.m. PST

What are the times Dan?

Bowman17 Oct 2017 6:42 a.m. PST

And yes.. there will be a an additional midnight madness flea market session at the show.

Dan, how difficult (or how disruptive to the vendors) would it be to grab a table after the Friday afternoon Flea Market closes at 6:00 pm?

Poniatowski17 Oct 2017 12:10 p.m. PST

Bowman, not at all.. we will most definitely not sell out completely.. AND, the tournament area will have a lot of open tables too. I thought long and hard about not taking away that as an open gaming space…. that is why it will be so late.

Moe,
11pm -2am VENDORS are allowed to get tables during this time.. after all, they game too and have stuff to sell!!!

Bowman18 Oct 2017 9:24 a.m. PST

Thanks, Dan.

Grabbing a table from the Flea Market usually allows one to start setting up by shortly after 6:00pm. The tables at the tournaments usually would be ready much later. There are awards to be given out, terrain to be removed, etc.

So If I grab a random table at the Flea Market section, I won't be stepping on anyone's toes?

Moe the Great23 Oct 2017 9:31 a.m. PST

What else are people bringing or looking for?

Poniatowski23 Oct 2017 11:37 a.m. PST

As it is new, I am fairly certain that WB for the midnight madness won't sell out, but there have been a bunch of sales for that time period.

I would suggest setting up your game in the vacated tourney area or the back of the flea area…. but then again.. if you start by 6 and are out by 11….. you will be fine.

I advise to use caution though.. games can get drawn out, so better safe than sorry….

Poniatowski23 Oct 2017 11:40 a.m. PST

I am unsure what I will be bringing.. but as always.. I'll be looking for GW LOTR, Gearkrieg, Warmachine Cryx and Cygnar and scenery…. 15mm & 25mm.

I think I might bring some of my old LOTR figures from the old Mithril range…. I have a lot of them, especially some of the more valuable ones now a days.

TSD10123 Oct 2017 12:29 p.m. PST

I don't have enough stuff to justify a table, but I have 4 packs of FoW Hungarian Cav, unopened, that I will never use as I've moved in a different direction if anyone has interested.

Moe the Great23 Oct 2017 1:19 p.m. PST

Tsd101,

I am interested, you looking for anything?

WilliamG23 Oct 2017 2:24 p.m. PST

Dan,

I have some Warmachine Cryx miniatures drop me an email at bgc1664@yahoo.com with a list of what you are looking for.

Bill

TSD10123 Oct 2017 8:11 p.m. PST

Moe I'd be interesting trading for 15mm terrain, German/Soviet FoW stuff, or Fantasy figures in 28 I could use for Frostgrave or Dragon Rampant.

Bowman24 Oct 2017 6:26 a.m. PST

…. so better safe than sorry….

Thanks Dan!

Poniatowski24 Oct 2017 6:41 a.m. PST

Bill… email sent, thanks!

Well… shirts are being silk screened/made and programs are being printed.

I want to apologize as there have been 3 event mistakes that have been brought to my attention…. all of which are solely on me. I am sorry. A few were fixed in time for the program.

Also.. I am hoping Walt has Guidebook up and running!

Rotundo24 Oct 2017 8:06 a.m. PST

Things for the table. 28mm Vikings and Saxsons with cav and command. 28mm Trollbloods for Hordes. 15mm Cossacks for By Fire or Sword with book. 15mm SYW Prussians. 15mm Nappy Prussians. 15mm Nappy Poles. 15

Rotundo24 Oct 2017 8:08 a.m. PST

Sorry, 28mm Star Wars figures. 28mm Dust Allies and Axis.

jefritrout24 Oct 2017 10:41 a.m. PST

For the record, TreeGirl will not be at the midnight madness flea market as it is past her bedtime. Her Dad will be there with much of her stuff however. If you are looking to see TreeGirl in person, she will be in attendance at the Saturday morning flea market session.

We will have trees, puffs (flame markers), and other miscellaneous terrain and other items that I will come across. Algebra homework might get in the way of some of the fancier terrain from Historicon. As for the cookies, they will only arrive by Saturday morning.

jefritrout24 Oct 2017 10:43 a.m. PST

Santa Moe,

TreeGirl will pick a selection of items for the Toys for Tots again this year.

Moe the Great24 Oct 2017 12:13 p.m. PST

Thank you Sir! And thank her for me!

Meveeder29 Oct 2017 4:21 a.m. PST

Anyone bringing any ASL (Adavanced Squad Leader) or 15mm ACW wagons?

Moe the Great29 Oct 2017 2:06 p.m. PST

anyone looking for dystopian wars or planetfall stuff?

jpipes04 Nov 2017 5:25 p.m. PST

Did a single dealer from the dealer hall take part in getting a table in the midnight session? I don't think I saw any even though it was a request by certain dealers to add the session. I did well in the midnight session but I do well in all sessions because guys like the stuff I have to sell at good prices.

Daribuck Supporting Member of TMP04 Nov 2017 6:16 p.m. PST

Not me!~ I was sound asleep at 11:00 pm! Packing and Unpacking is tiring work, as are the six hours a the dealer area!

Moe the Great06 Nov 2017 5:24 a.m. PST

I did the midnight madness and was amazed how many shoppers there was. I did very well and would do it again, and for those who were afraid of losing the open gaming tables, there was a bunch empty around the room.

historygamer06 Nov 2017 6:30 a.m. PST

Well, someone had to hold down the bar while that was going on, so I volunteered. It was tough but we made it out alive.

deleted22222222206 Nov 2017 6:38 a.m. PST

I do have a connection for AQMF stuff unpainted. Did anyone see anyone selling 15mm Crimean War troops.

Bowman06 Nov 2017 6:44 a.m. PST

…….and for those who were afraid of losing the open gaming tables, there was a bunch empty around the room.

True, but that is never a "given" that one can plan for. Especially, if this will be considered during Cold Wars and Historicon. On both Friday and Saturday night, I noticed the attendance in the Lampeter room was greater than that in the Distlefink room.

jefritrout06 Nov 2017 7:41 a.m. PST

Jason,

Lon from Brigade Games and someone else was present in the flea market for the midnight time frame. So there were dealers present, but only 16 sellers total of which 2 were vendors I believe. I found that it was only busy for the first half an hour or so. After that it pretty much slowed down to a few stragglers. From 11:45 on it was sellers looking at other sellers stuff. I packed up at midnight as did most of the sellers. I do not know if anyone stuck it out to 2am.

historygamer06 Nov 2017 7:47 a.m. PST

I find it odd that there was an additional flea market when the one Friday afternoon had a lot of empty tables.

One of my dealer friends (okay, that sounds weird) said that he was never made aware of any dealer-oriented flea market. So it sounds like the left hand doesn't know…. awww, you get it.

jefritrout06 Nov 2017 2:54 p.m. PST

I agree, it seemed that the midnight madness flea market was not very well advertised.

Double G06 Nov 2017 4:41 p.m. PST

"Did a single dealer from the dealer hall take part in getting a table in the midnight session?"

Yes, as has been pointed out, two of them did.

And as an FYI, no dealer I know of asked for yet another session to be added, the request was to add a night session and get rid of one of the day sessions.

The session went well from what I heard and I also heard they are thinking of running one at Cold Wars Friday night from 9:00pm to midnight; I'd be in for that one.

We're all getting older, the Distlefink was half empty at Friday night around 8:00pm, very few attendees are going to do a 11:00pm flea market as a result.

Glad to hear you did well Crapgame and don't worry, no one is going to steal any of your flea market action……………….

TSD10106 Nov 2017 9:57 p.m. PST

Friday night from 9:00pm to midnight;

This would work a lot better for those buying the tables. While it was fun to browse after my game ended at 11 PM, ultimately there were lots of empty tables, and not that many people left.

capncarp06 Nov 2017 10:36 p.m. PST

I debated hanging around for the 11pm flea market, and actually did so, but bumping it up earlier would likely garner more sellers and buyers, including me.

Moe the Great07 Nov 2017 5:18 a.m. PST

I would do another late night Flea Market, it was fun and for me, gav me a chance that I didn't have during the day to sell some goods.

historygamer07 Nov 2017 7:12 a.m. PST

"the Distlefink was half empty at Friday night around 8:00pm,…"

Double G – I have come to the conclusion this is a (repeatedly) self-inflicted wound.

If you took all the games that ran upstairs in the lobby (as obviously running multiple games in a very dark corner of the hot lobby with tables jammed together is preferable to putting them in the half empty ballroom we pay for) – and consider what the ballroom would look like with then, and also put the game that is always at the bottom of the steps – the ballroom would be full.

Not picking on any one particular con with this choice of gaming locations – as it happens now across the boards. I suspect the one in the hotel lobby was started at Hcon some years ago when all the other gaming space was filled – which is no longer the case – and CW and FI never had the attendance/games that Hcon got anyway.

To address the flea market topic – I thought the one Friday afternoon was pretty weak. It might indeed be better with just one run Friday evening.

muggins07 Nov 2017 10:01 a.m. PST

I was very positive on the Con overall but the flea market was not a high point for me. People lined up all around our games in the Lampeter room and made it very hot and hard to move. A lot of the stuff being sold was extremely overpriced (gamers, I get it) and a lot of it wasn't even related to wargaming. Add to that one or two extremely aggressive (and sometimes hostile) sellers and I don't know if I'll waste my time with that part of the con next year.

jpipes08 Nov 2017 5:18 a.m. PST

Saying the flea markets were weak is all a matter of perspective. As both a seller and a buyer I was impressed with and very happy regarding what I managed to buy and sell. I had lots of pleased buyers including one guy that was extremely excited to walk away with hundreds of painted figures in a collection he bought, and I personally found some real treasures to take home including a lot of custom made and out of production terrain I would never have found anywhere else. Another great series of flea market sessions this year!

Poniatowski08 Nov 2017 5:40 a.m. PST

@Historygamer….
There were 4 dealers I identified in the midnight session.

AND…

As far as the dealers being allowed into the flea market… that is an absolute lie. IT was even stated in this years vendor packet for Fall In!. EVERYONE who got a dealer packet.. was given the information and notified that they could be there.

Please stop saying crap like "the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing…." It simply is not true.

historygamer08 Nov 2017 6:34 a.m. PST

Ummmm, I never said that there weren't any dealers in the midnight session. I have no idea one way or the other. I said the Friday afternoon flea market was rather weak in my opinion. Lots of empty tables, not much I found interesting.

As far as the dealers knowing, I'm just repeating what one of the long time vendors told me. He said he had no idea that the evening flea market was targeted to them. Don't blame me for that. I'm just repeating what he said, and he is a rather active vendor who goes to all the membership meetings too. I have no idea what was in the vendor packet, but if it was then he clearly missed it and he is pretty sharp.

One other long time vendor told me that if you want to make an impact on the Friday flea market and please the vendors, then only run the one in the evening. Again, I am just repeating what he said.

historygamer08 Nov 2017 8:46 a.m. PST

Dan:

I had to go back and re-read my original post:

"One of my dealer friends (okay, that sounds weird) said that he was never made aware of any dealer-oriented flea market. So it sounds like the left hand doesn't know…. awww, you get it."

Your response was:

"As far as the dealers being allowed into the flea market… that is an absolute lie."

Now sometimes I mis-read what people have posted and go back and re-read it if called out.

I never, ever said they weren't "allowed" in the flea market, yet you accused me of saying that. Being "made aware" and, as you say, not "being allowed" – is a pretty big mis-read on your part.

Would you like to retract that "lie" are you attributing to me?

Rotundo08 Nov 2017 9:16 a.m. PST

My first flea market as a seller. I liked it. I sold a ton of painted (poorly) stuff. About 550 28mm Saxsons and Vikings. Prussian and Poles for Nappy….I may have come off as aggressive. If I did, rest assured I am only trying to engage and have fun….

jefritrout08 Nov 2017 11:03 a.m. PST

My feelings on the Friday night flea market as someone who was there selling items.

1) It seemed pretty weak to me. Granted all the business was in the first 20 minutes, and after that I only had 2 other purchases and nobody after 11:35.

The reason I say that it wasn't advertised was that none of the guys that I gamed with, and only one of the group of 11 of us that were going to go out to dinner knew of the midnight flea market until I advised them of it. So of the roughly 40 folks that I talked to, only 1 was aware of the late night flea market.

2) I do not think that moving it up to 8 PM is a good idea. The fact that it is available to dealers as well is a good thing, but…
they are in the dealer hall until 6pm then close up stuff and get out by, say 615 if they are quick. Next would be dinner time so give that a hour and half at least. SO they wouldn't be able to start set up until right about 8pm itself. Moving it up to the 8 PM with a registration and set up time of 7 PM is not the best in my opinion.

Maybe have it start at 9 and run until midnight or just 9-11. That also gives us folks that run games all day Friday a chance for a quick break and eating something before the evening flea market. I know that I will be running games Friday from 9AM until 5PM, so it would be nice to actually eat and catch my breath before setting up for the flea market.

***Basically, I think that this is a good option, but it needs to be tweaked a bit, so maybe a 9-11 on Friday night would be the best option, or even 9-12, but I wouldn't start it before 9pm to account for the dealers sanity.

Granted the Saturday morning flea market went rather well, but I did have help during that one.
