Howdy,

Lost Opportunity: The Battle Of The Ardennes 22 August 1914 ( Wolverhampton Military Studies )
by Simon J House ( Author )

This finally arrived on Saturday. I'm about a quarter of the way through it. So far thumbs up.

The book comes with a seperate folio of maps.

It you have an interest in this campaign, Ardennes 1914, you will want this book.

It is a superb book, supplemented by the excellent Map Book. The detailed analysis is outstanding. The only area that Simon didn't study in detail (not a criticism) is the training that occurred between the declaration of war and the first battles about 3 weeks later. Finally lays to rest the nonsense about 'l'offensive à outrance' (French infantry rushing headlong into German wire and trenches). Highly recommended.
