A couple of years ago I ran across a blog chronicling a group using Votoms gashapon figures to do a RPG storytelling/miniatures game. Here a link

I got a bunch of the Gashapon figures with the intention of using them eventually in a 15mm scale game. Yesterday I was playing a Gundam game and it rekindled my interest in using them in an anime style game. Flashy action, heroic moves etc…

My google search turns up mostly iPhone games when I search for anime mecha wargaming unfortunatly.

Does anyone know of any anime inspired Wargames rules?

Votoms actually has an RPG
Mecha!
Heavy Gear/Jovian Chronicles
Mekton

Although not a mech game, Gruntz has a awesome build rules for mecha. If you want something super easy but still fun there's also Mecha Force.

I would say:

Mecha by Chris Perrin
or Samurai Robots Battle Royale by Andrea Sfiligoi.

While not exactly Anime inspired, I also like Armor Grid Mech Attack by C. Hughes and M. Kilareski.

We use Giant Monster Rampage for games where each player has one Mecha and Samurai Robots Battle Royale for teams of Mecha. Samurai Robots is very easy to "House Rule" to get the style of game you want, for example, boosting the effectiveness of close combat skills and weapons to make them as effective as ranged weapons gives a more typical Gundam type game.

Votoms RPG Is R Talsorian Games even still around?
I have their Votoms, Mekton and Bubblegum Crisis books.

R talsorian was still around a couple years back, not nearly as visible as they used to be however. I have a couple versions of Mekton and really liked the system.

Thanks for the mention Twigg66!

The most recent version of Giant Monster Rampage (4th edition with the working title of "Kaiju Rampage") that I am working on, is a much better system for bringing mechs and monsters to life on the battlefield.

You can find the playtest file on Wargame Vault if you want to give it a try.
