"Latest Chaos Commission" Topic

I finished up my latest commission on Wednesday but I haven't really had the chance to post pics if it yet, so here it is

the base hopefully isn't to much! I could of being more subtle with the mine field but I'm not good at subtle I'm affraid!

That is one nasty looking beast.

I hate pointing this out, but isn't the sign around the wrong way? It looks like you can only read it once you are in the mine field. Also having the beast look like it's about to get blown up, may be counter productive?

If this is an issue, just angle the sign to be read from the side of the base.

Would CHAOS have such careful signage? if not then they must be guard or maine and if he can't see (or probably even read) the sign, he may walk into the mine field.

Also bright red mines barely hidden in black gravel? Who was the fool who ordered them from the supply depot?

Not having a go at you, the painting is nice and the base idea good. Perhaps just needs a tweek or two. Perhaps a dark green for the mines, then it wont look so much like the beasts colours and will also look a bit more camaflaged and fit better as imperium with the english sign, perhaps adjested as i mention above.

The H Man, thanks for comnenting. I know what you mean about the sign but I tried it the other way round and it was mostly hidden by the beastie! I could of planned it out better, originally I painted the mines dark angels green but I'm not good at doing subtle do I changed the colour. Thanks for the kind comments regarding the brushwork. I didn't really envision the sign being planted by chaos. Like I say I could of thought it through a lot better before I started. I couldn't change it if I wanted it was already on its way back to its owner when I posted the pics. The good news is he is more than happy with it. Thankfully! I was rather nervous about it to be honest!

Rogzombie, no it's just a basic plastic GW kit, although it was pre-built when I got it. I've painted one before and it looked pretty different to this one, both leg and weapon wise! The basic body if I remember was the same but I think it can be built as a forgefiend or Maulerfiend? But I could be wrong!

It's good to hear your client likes it. That is, after all, the most important thing. Who knows, they may now want the rest of their armies bases converted that way. It may be worth mentioning it as a future job option to them, a gentle hint perhaps.
