Started our second playtest last night in preparation for upcoming convention in OCT. Short write-up and pics are located here. link The mat is from Cigar Box and figs are 10mm (Good Ground, GHQ and Perrin). Added foam hills under the mat and woodland scenic trees. I have a few 3D buildings (6mm to match ground scale) and plan to complete the rest using paper terrain if time permits before the October event. Plan to finish this battle next week. |

Nice setup. Did you do anything to the fire and movement ranges to take into account the different ground scales between F&F and the CB mats ? |

PJ ONeill, No changes the ground scale is close enough and it still looks good. Once I determined the Confederate Artillery on Herr Ridge can still range Seminary ridge I decided it was good. I did adjust the entry points on the map though as map covers more area to the north and less to the South. Very minimal though and works well. Just means some Confederate units appear out of thin air and delayed some of the XI CORPS by a turn to account for them starting in Town. |

Looks fantastic… Just wish Cigar Box would do their wonderful Gettysburg maps in JRII/III scale 1":50yrds…. I asked if they would special order but alas no… Need a bunch more people pushing them and then perhaps it would be viable…. Madcam. |

mad- If the CBB mats, at 80-100 yds/inch can handle a game with 65 yds/inch (F&F), it would only take a small adjustment of movement and weapon ranges to handle JRIII at 50 yds/in or JRII at 40 yds/in. Also, I don't think the mats can be printed wider than 5ft. I may be wrong. |

Madcam, I noticed they do some smaller and larger scales. I suppose they could blow it up you just would not get as much terrain on a single mat. I guess it is all about demand. The mats they have done a exact prints of the scenarios in the osprey books, so osprey may have backed the project. My guess is it is somewhat cost prohibitive to print a new map or even a different scale without a certain amount of guaranteed sales hence the recent kickstarter. On a positive note CBB did share my post, so hopefully it generates interest and I did hear they are working on Bull Run. I mats I own are straight out of the across the Deadly field book….I wish they would do the rest of Gettysburg, would love to have the full battlefield then make the 3D hills like I have done for 1st Day. |
