Instead of having favorite dr Hook song, like all those now pestering the polls, taking up 5 polls with literally a bazillion options. I'll simply ask this. Dr. Hook(Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show)
Yey or ney? |

Brilliant. I think "Sylvia's Mother" is a GREAT satire. It took in a lot of people who thought it was serious. I saw a grown man crying in his beer over it. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a joke. |

My mistake! "Sylvia's Mother" was serious! At least, according to Shel Silverstein who wrote it. Oh well. I still think it's one of the funniest songs I've ever heard. |

Bill has been ignoring the Poll Suggestion threads lately. He will instead list the entire catalog of the performers. He did that with the Elements Poll too. I much prefer the outrage over leaving Gettysburg out of a "Favorite ACW battle" Poll when nobody bothered to nominate it. |

Yes. "Cover of the Rolling Stone" was self-deprecatingly brilliant. |

Great band in concert as well, saw them 3 times back in the day. When Ray started changing out his glass eye it blew the crowd away. Agree with both "Sylvia's Mother" and "Cover of the Rolling Stone", would add "Life Ain't Easy" and "A Little Bit More". Shel Silverstein was their muse and main songwriter and was brilliant. |

Dr Hook are still around in various guises. I have tried (and failed) to book tickets to Dennis Locorrier in November, who sings his old Dr Hook songs. I recently saw Ray Sawyer in concert as well, must have been in his seventies but still a character ! Yay ! |

Bleah. Lots of mediocre acts from the 70's, and Dr. Hook is as mediocre as any of them. There is no good music or bad music, only the music you like and don't like. (My personal mantra) |

I like the T-shirt that declares, "Your Favorite Band Sucks". |
