Well I was messing around with CAD and a TMPer was asking about high tech sci fi apes and I thought "I can do that!". Well after puttering around the last few days I present to you a fully fleshed out faction. The GSG (Galactic Space Gorillas). I have 14 different poses and 4 vehicles worked up, they are scaled for 28mm but large, think Sasquatch or Bigfoot compared to humans. Here is a size comparison with a modern 28mm human soldier next to one.
Here are front views of the 14 poses I have done and the 4 vehicles I have made to go with them.
This is the Type 1 Assault Vehicle, MBT and infantry carrier.
Type 2 Missile Support Vehicle
Type 3 APC
Type 3 Plasma Mortar
I have actually printed a couple to check the files, they are rough as I just pulled the supports off and then took a picture.
Now people can go Ape! |

If they were less erect and the legs a little bit shorter or more curved, would buy those figures (if they were done smaller, to fight against 15mm humans). Dan |

Dan, they are 3D I can re-scale them for 15mm. |

Oh my gosh … I can't believe how fast you've done this. The only thing that needs work is the Type 3 APC. It just looks underdeveloped--perhaps it's just the turret, because the Plasma Mortar looks OK. Mostly the turret, may also be the angle of the rendering. If nothing else, see if you can add tread to the tires; they'll look much better. |

Redoing the tread a most excellent suggestion… here are the results. I wound up making one more vehicle for these guys sheesh.
The plasma mortar has been re-worked with beefy tires added.
Plain jane Type 3 with beefy treads added.
Type 3 with smaller lower turret added and beefy treads. |

Yay! You explained an acronym!. Now I won't feel so ignorant. Won't have use for the ape men, but you shouldn't have trouble selling them. I look forward to your future experiments.

The "Plain Jane" is a good addition and the new tires look great! I feel like I'm complaining endlessly, but the new low turret is too low! Unless it's essentially fixed forward, it's blocked by almost everything on top of the hull. (The original had the problem that the antenna would get shot off with a very common line of fire.) Think about how the turret is supposed to work and what the internal configuration is. Was the original (tall turret) a remote mount or a single-ape turret? The new version seems to have a hatch, but there's no place on it for forward optics. It's so shallow that you could barely get eye level up to the gun, and with a crew helmet you couldn't even get your eyes above the level of the top deck. The problem with the tall turret was that the shape seemed bizarrely crude. I definitely liked having guns that were clearly unrelated to the plasma mortar. |

This is my final iteration of the type 3, I also told Cacique Caribe that I would print some GSG in 15mm. So here are the final files for the 8x8s and some pictures of 15mm I printed today. I threw in some Rebel miniatures 15mm PLA modern infantry for scale comparison, plus I threw in 2 of the printed 28mm giants.
