"When the North Korean Army needed an armored personnel carrier, they turned to what they do best – license production of an existing (and proven) system from one of their few global allies, the Chinese. The VTT-323 (M1973 "Sinhung") was born as a locally-produced copy of the NORINCO YW 531C series armored personnel carrier. As such, the VTT-323 shares much in common with the original Chinese offering and grows the mobility and reach of North Korean land forces even further. The VTT-323 has since become the standard North Korean Army Armored Personnel Carrier and would no doubt be fielded in force during an invasion scenario involving South Korea. It is assumed that the VTT-323 began operational service with the North Korean People's Army (NKPA) sometime in 1973…" Main page link Model…

They are fielded in force for parades, drills, and demonstrations. In a shooting war the Norks wouldn't be so stupid as to give the US and ROK armies such easy targets as APC's that are "meh" by Cold War standards. These vehicles would be used largely as decoys, as the main infantry attacks proceeded entirely on foot. On the off chance that they ARE that stupid… one never really knows. There are American privates with more combat experience than north Korea's commanding generals. |

There are American privates with more combat experience than north Korea's commanding generals. No doubt … As I have said on other threads. It would be a bloody continuation of the conflict, as it is only a "truce". Since '53. But the NoKos would be defeated totally, however the cost to many South Korean non-combatants would be very high. Not to mention military losses to the ROKs and US. As would the North's. Their military would be totally destroyed. Un's ability to hit Seoul, even with limited rockets/missiles etc. After most will have been shot down or destroyed before firing. The losses to Seoul would still be high. |
