In short yes they are. The rules are simple. Everything has been made fast without too many rolls. You roll a D6 to hit, needing to score your accuracy and there are only 5 modifiers. To damage just add your armor piercing modifier add beat the targets defence. And big things have in effect wounds. The rules are well laid out. The writing is concise. There is a 2 sided quick play sheet at the back. There are command dice that allow units to do extra stuff. Suppressions are a major component of the rules. These are what I have been looking for. And the good thing is its so easy to make up stats for your own miniatures. There is only 3 things I have added as house rules.
1. double stated ranges for all but pistols and flame throwers and modify the accuracy roll by -1.
2. A D6 critical roll for vehicles.
3. Allow high tech units have an extra 2" range for coherency.
I would really recommend these for 15mm players who want a large scale skirmish with single based figures. At last my hunt for a good set of 15mm skirmish rules has ended.

I was thinking the other day that the basic system is very similar to One Page Rules' Grimdark Future plus extra chrome. Does it use special rules for certain figures? That's what makes it hard to come up with a design system.

Are you going to choose units from the game to represent whatever figures you have?

I looked into the beta rules for this reason, but wandered off. I will give the finished product another look, thank you.

It has a 5 and a half page list of special rules and equipment that you can tag on to any unit. There are no figure specific rules that only that figure ever has. I will both use some of the stats as is but will do my own as well.

Sorry there are only a very few special rules that are figure specific.

Sounds interesting, does it have a points or other way of balancing forces?

Not much in the way of profiles in the free version.

Well having started out reading Warpath and thinking this isn't what I was expecting I'm now most of the way through Firefight. It wasn't going to set wargaming design world on fire, but it looks like it would give a pretty straight forward game.

Warpath looks like it might have some utility for big games.

Quick question for anyone who's played firefight, who 'bloody' is the game? Do squads get obliterated before the suppression rules actually have an effect?
