Yes-I gave 9 cases of books to a historical society and gave most of my miniatures away-some to friends, some to nephews to get them in the hobby. I have two computors filled with pdfs. Still buried in paper.

MSU John16 Sep 2017 3:23 p.m. PST

Yes. I don't want to say more, my wife may be monitoring this page . . .

TMPWargamerabbit16 Sep 2017 3:28 p.m. PST

Two garages and counting. I stop when I fill a full sized 18 wheeler moving van as I don't want to drive a future move distance twice.

Collecting, painting, basing, collecting research reference books for library, terrain filling six five-drawer filing cabinets plus, almost all miniatures 1/72, 25mm or 28mm over 40 years, the collection has taken over.

Its the combined weight which is getting scary.

I´m not running out of space for my gaming stuff, but I am running out of space for everything else! grin

Oh, Yes!

No. I don't keep anything at home other than my very small painting desk.

coryfromMissoula16 Sep 2017 4:22 p.m. PST

We are building a second game room.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2017 4:31 p.m. PST

The bad news is that I own more wargaming stuff than I can conveniently store and keep track of. The good news is that it's down from two years ago. I hope in another three years to be down to where I at least know what I have and where it is.

Might be five years.

IronDuke596 Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2017 4:36 p.m. PST

LoL! That is me too!

Bashytubits16 Sep 2017 4:43 p.m. PST

I am downsizing my collection.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2017 4:45 p.m. PST

No, built a large storage barn in the back yard long
ago.

Jozis Tin Man16 Sep 2017 4:58 p.m. PST

Nope, I have sold off huge quantities of moribund projects over the last 4 years and am exclusively doing new projects in smaller scales. All fits nicely!

10 years ago when we moved in, I stacked boxes of stuff "to clean out later" on our shelves in our garage.
Last month I started going through them.
Today I opened two boxes that haven't been opened since I had them packed and left the military in 1995…
Needless to say the trash can is full.
Plus we have a ton of stuff to take to goodwill.

We're actually looking at moving…wife wants me to have a game room to set up all of my stuff.

She's an amazing woman she is.

Striker16 Sep 2017 5:10 p.m. PST

Yes, not enough room.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2017 5:21 p.m. PST

Yes. It's why I'm purging stuff on the Marketplace this year. Only to refill next year, but that's then.

Syrinx016 Sep 2017 6:30 p.m. PST

Most of my games and books fit in one room plus a few shelves. This is a bit of a cheat though as I have several shelving units at our gaming club (a friends basement). It will be bad if my friend ever moves.

Wackmole916 Sep 2017 6:48 p.m. PST

yes I have several time

Ragbones16 Sep 2017 6:57 p.m. PST

Yes, but I've been downsizing my collection so it's not as bad as it once was.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2017 8:16 p.m. PST

Yep.

Dragon Gunner16 Sep 2017 8:21 p.m. PST

No

But I have several VERY large terrain projects in various stages of completion ask that question in the future.

It also helps that I have my house to myself!

Bashytubits16 Sep 2017 9:48 p.m. PST

I like how you have planned for access for proper naval gaming.

Cyrus the Great16 Sep 2017 10:14 p.m. PST

NO.

Ottoathome16 Sep 2017 10:23 p.m. PST

That's why I built a new house around my collection and library.

UshCha17 Sep 2017 1:41 a.m. PST

I invented fold flay cardboard buildings, it seemed the ultimate as a table full of conventional buildings fill a couple of large crates. Alas it did not work, I noe had more space for buildings so I made even more. I now have more crates of buildings and man folded Cardboard is Really Heavey. Plus keeping track of hundreds of buildings (I think) is a nightmare. So yes I am out of space.

PS dropping to 10mm did not help. they are smaller but you need SOOOO many :-).

whitphoto17 Sep 2017 6:06 a.m. PST

We've been downsizing everything after moving a 5th person into our 2 bedroom apartment after a very serious health scare. One kid moving off to college in the winter and my youngest starting college in a year will be offset by a newborn in the spring! We're looking at several years of minimalism until everything gets settled and a house gets purchased. We've thrown out or sold a moving trucks worth of stuff over the past year easily.

Gaming wise if I'm not currently using it or actively starting it it needs to go. I'll be donating two WWII forces and several tubs of terrain to my hometown club to try and get Bolt Action going more frequently after the yearly convention this month.

Dynaman878917 Sep 2017 6:15 a.m. PST

Yes, so buying a second home

Chuckaroobob17 Sep 2017 10:11 a.m. PST

Yes. If I could just find somebody to buy the pool table some of my problems would be solved.

Grelber17 Sep 2017 10:11 a.m. PST

Well, yeah. I know it would help if I'd clean up and organize my painting and storage room. That would also allow me to find and sell off some unwanted things.

My wife did a massive dump of stuff for her theatre hobby, and that really cleaned out what had been intended to be the room I set up games in. Now, my son has moved back in (between jobs), so I'm back to having no room for games. Especially since my wife got a laptop and decided the dining room table is her office desk.

Wife and son have suggested I need to sell off figures and books to make more space. Besides, they point out I'm 65 and might kick off any day now. Pffffftt!!

I rented a 20 foot dumpster and cleaned out the garage and the basement last week. Half of the debris in the dumpster is from my Wargame storage.

I never worry about running out of Space…

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."

THHGTTG quote, of course!

Timotheous17 Sep 2017 3:46 p.m. PST

I am not running out of space, per se, but have run out of storage containers for some of the new stuff I'm painting. I am not rushing to wal-mart to get more Plano tackle boxes though. I will be asking Santa to bring me 50-60 of those cardboard tuck boxes to store my figures in, after seeing how nice Extra Crispy's store solution looks like with uniform storage of figures and scenery.

I don't think my collection ever reached the volume of some of our august members' collections, even after 25 years in the hobby, as I'm a slow painter. But I was astounded at how much I did have when I moved apartments with my wife four years ago. When we moved from California to the east coast, I did give away about a third of my collection, so I have more room, physical and mental, to pursue this hobby with no anxiety about having too much.

Fitzovich Supporting Member of TMP17 Sep 2017 5:00 p.m. PST

No, years ago I gave my WWII armor, 15mm AC, 15mm Pirates and 25mm Colonials away to friends during a rather ugly divorce. I am now rebuilding my collections with everything in 6mm in order to minimize storage issues and costs. It assembles quickly, costs less and stores easily.

Narratio17 Sep 2017 8:00 p.m. PST

No. If in doubt, build an extension.

I cull the herd when I start to hit critical mass but it might be time for some new shelves.

Old Wolfman18 Sep 2017 7:29 a.m. PST

Glad I have a basement garage bay.

Cacique Caribe18 Sep 2017 8:39 p.m. PST

If I could flood-proof it, I would build a real dungeon for my toys.
