I have Maurice and use the rules for 7YW. Recently I was working on modifying Hold The Line for a battle level game of the AWI. My friend the Gamepoet was playtesting them with me and suggested Maurice. We had been playing a Eutaw Springs scenario from Richard Borg's Tricorn rules and had ended the game with it looking pretty dismal for the "Mericans". After he left I cleaned up the table a bit and just started to play the game where it left off with Maurice and it seemed to work ok. I did a search here and there isn't much Maurice activity right now. My question is are you or have you played AWI with Maurice recently and if so what are your feelings and do you have any house rules? Thank you Chris dayofbattle.com historybooksinreview.com |

Yes, we played the Brandywine scenario in the rules book, and it gave a good game |

my group has played a couple of Maurice in the AWI games link In general the games go pretty well. The only universal house rule is to allow the artillery to fire every turn. We only use 1-2 cannon per side if they were card activated they probably would never get to fire. Recently we have started to combine Maurice with Scharnhorst (Blücher pre-game campaign) it provides some interesting set-ups the battle. |

I will be putting on the Battle of Monmouth, at FallCon30 (in Calgary) next weekend. My play tests showed that Maurice works just fine for AWI. No cavalry, of course, but that's AWI – still the same hard decisions and tension |

I've played the Brandywine scenario from the rule book a few times and it always went down to the wire, the terrain and the troop quality made things interesting. It felt like an AWI game to me and I opted to go with Maurice when I finally get my Cowpens' armies painted up and on the tabletop. |

I am on a Bunker Hill quest after reading a book called Bunker Hill Notes and Queries and publishing a review on my review site (see below). So this afternoon my friend Art from Aide de Camp Books and I are going to use the scenario in Command & Colors Tricorne with Sam Mustafa's rules Maurice in 28mm. I know this sounds a bit odd using two different systems. I am using the scenario hex tasble cloth for terrain and troop placement, then we will using Maurice with it's movement rates etc. I will post some pictures tomorrow. There's nothing unusual about using scenario books from one rules system to do games in another. My group has all the scenario books from British Grenadier to set up games for Age of Reason and TSATF. |
