I recently toured five of the Hungarian War of Independence 1848-1849 battlefields. I've written them up here: link The blog post points to a photo album for each battle. Egészségedre! Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! link |

Next time you are in Budapest pop up the road (20 minutes by train) to Vac. You can still see the church(square).

Stecal: don't we all! But by mostly limiting myself to the nienteenth century, I reckon I get the best of both worlds – tons of variety, but with a single ruleset (BBB) that all our gang is happy with. And we mostly use 6mm so we can get away with a fair amount of proxying. 6mm Union look a lot like 1864 Danes or 1897 Greeks … John, thanks for the tip. Yes, Vac is on the agenda for a future Vac-ation, maybe combined with the Slovak battlefields. But I've only researched the first battle of Vac so far, which is probably just a bit too small to bother with, and I haven't got as far as the second one, so I ruled it out for this trip. Chris |
