Rob G. and I met up at the Dragon's Lair in San Antonio Texas to fight a 1250pt game using lists from mid 1944. I fielded my Russians and Rob played his Germans.
I recently purchased a new game mat from Killing Fields Terrain. This mat makes for a very nice grass land, this particular tabletop represents a small village in eastern Poland 1944.
I placed foam contour hills under the mat and they form very nicely into some rolling terrain. The buildings are from Warlord Games, the fences and fields are home made. I also made the roads from felt and spray paint.
Rob protected his left flank with two German medium machineguns and some reserves located behind the hill.
My Russian list had 2 platoons each with a T-34/85.
Rob pushed his attack to the left of the village using the woods to block my line of sight.
I pushed into the village and turned the German right flank, at the same time I had to fall back on my right as the Germans turned my flank and destroyed a number of my smaller units.
The game ended with me having lost 3 more units than Rob, giving him a nice victory over my Russians.
