Hello, I am reading up on Pistols in the 40K 8th addition. They do not grant you an extra attack in close combat as they use to. But you can fire them while you are in close combat. So technically is the same number of attacks in a across two phases of the turn. So you can shot and send you can fight. Is that all correct or have I missed something on how pistols work now? Thanks |

You can't normally shoot in the shooting phase if there is an enemy unit within 1" of your unit. Pistols are the exception to this. You can shoot a pistol during the shooting phase even if there is an enemy unit within 1" of your unit. Note, this occurs in the Shooting phase, not in the Fight Phase. Note also that you're only allowed to shoot at the enemy unit within 1" of your unit. If there is an enemy unit within 1", and you shoot your pistol, that enemy unit must be the target. |

I have actually found it to be a good balance. It actually allows you to thin hordes down a little better and makes those heavier pistols like plasma and inferno pistols worth their weight in gold as now they hit and take down more models. |

I like the way are doing pistols now. It makes Space Marines and Chaos Marine tactical squads have the tactical flexibility they should have. |
