George RR Martin says Smaug would beat Drogon, easy. Smaug is ancient and crafty. Darn big too.

What about Vermithrax from Dragon Slayer? Or Jormungandr? As a Godzilla nut I'd have to vote for King Ghidora. Unless you're talking about Tiamat from Babylonian mythos, in which case I'd go with her. |

Are people only not voting for the obvious choice because they never read the Silmarillion? Because if a list has Ancalagon the Black on it, there really aren't any other correct choices. |
