In honor of Walter Becker's death, I was wondering what are your favorite Steely Dan songs?

KSmyth03 Sep 2017 10:08 p.m. PST

So many great ones. I'd say "Show Biz Kids," "When Josie Comes Home," and "Don't Take Me Alive"for starters. Such a great team. He will be missed.

nevinsrip03 Sep 2017 11:49 p.m. PST

"Reelin' in the Years" by far. Skunk Baxter at his best!

Texas Jack04 Sep 2017 1:10 a.m. PST

It is really difficult, but I would say Deacon Blues, with Hey 19 and Peg very closely behind. Great band!

I was very sorry to read of Beckerīs death. RIP

"Hey 19", other than that, not really a fan.

Pictors Studio04 Sep 2017 6:43 a.m. PST

I love Steely Dan, but my favs are Rikki, Reelin and Dirty Work.

skinkmasterreturns04 Sep 2017 6:46 a.m. PST

Another here for Reelin'.

BrianW04 Sep 2017 6:46 a.m. PST

If we have to pick just one, then I'm going with "My Old School."

Hlaven04 Sep 2017 6:57 a.m. PST

I am with Texas Jack. Deacon Blues and Hey 19.

Ugh. This one really hurts. Spent hours and hours in high school in my room listening to their albums. When my fiancee and I split she got the LPs I got the CDs. Steely Dan and Elton John were the first two I replaced (thanks Columbia Record Club!).

This is like picking a favorite child (though easy for me as I only have one). But I'd start with:

Charlie Freak
Pretzel Logic
Doctor Wu
Haitian Divorce

Oh dear, I just love all of you equally.

Cyrus the Great04 Sep 2017 7:30 a.m. PST

Reelin' in the Years, Rikki don't loose my number and Dirty Work for me.

flooglestreet04 Sep 2017 8:43 a.m. PST

Peg, Kid Charlemagne, Josie, Doctor Wu, Rikki dont lose that number.

Beowulf Fezian04 Sep 2017 8:47 a.m. PST

Peg, or course!

wrgmr104 Sep 2017 8:48 a.m. PST

Another vote for Reelin' in the Years. Do It Again, Bad Sneakers.

Too many too count…

23rdFusilier04 Sep 2017 1:33 p.m. PST

Too many favorites, cannot pick just one.

Bismarck04 Sep 2017 2:45 p.m. PST

Deacon Blues, far and above. Maybe from the time in my life when it was released, some other personal interpretation..or just the song itself.

cavcrazy04 Sep 2017 3:47 p.m. PST

All of them.

Ceterman04 Sep 2017 6:50 p.m. PST

Agree with the too many to name one. My Old School or Dirty Work come to mind, only cause they were 2 of Steely Dan's first songs I remember hearing & loved em. GREAT band. They really helped me during the disco fad, but mostly that was Little Feat. But I always loved RIP, Sir. Thanks for all the great music & memories. Damn, why are the good folks dying…

Tough one. Though I like My Old School, Gaucho, Reelin' in the Years, Chain Ligthning, and Hey 19, and so many others, I'm gonna go with Peg.

RIP, Mr. Becker.

Do It Again and Reelin In the Years for me.

Mardaddy06 Sep 2017 8:57 p.m. PST

Deacon Blues, FM, Hey 19, Do it Again, Reelin in the Years, Peg, too many to choose.

Woefully regret never having seen them live.
