In honor of Walter Becker's death, I was wondering what are your favorite Steely Dan songs? |
KSmyth | 03 Sep 2017 10:08 p.m. PST |
So many great ones. I'd say "Show Biz Kids," "When Josie Comes Home," and "Don't Take Me Alive"for starters. Such a great team. He will be missed. |

"Reelin' in the Years" by far. Skunk Baxter at his best! |

It is really difficult, but I would say Deacon Blues, with Hey 19 and Peg very closely behind. Great band! I was very sorry to read of Beckerīs death. RIP |

If we have to pick just one, then I'm going with "My Old School." |

Ugh. This one really hurts. Spent hours and hours in high school in my room listening to their albums. When my fiancee and I split she got the LPs I got the CDs. Steely Dan and Elton John were the first two I replaced (thanks Columbia Record Club!). This is like picking a favorite child (though easy for me as I only have one). But I'd start with: Charlie Freak Pretzel Logic Doctor Wu Haitian Divorce Oh dear, I just love all of you equally. |

Deacon Blues, far and above. Maybe from the time in my life when it was released, some other personal interpretation..or just the song itself. |

Agree with the too many to name one. My Old School or Dirty Work come to mind, only cause they were 2 of Steely Dan's first songs I remember hearing & loved em. GREAT band. They really helped me during the disco fad, but mostly that was Little Feat. But I always loved RIP, Sir. Thanks for all the great music & memories. Damn, why are the good folks dying… |

Tough one. Though I like My Old School, Gaucho, Reelin' in the Years, Chain Ligthning, and Hey 19, and so many others, I'm gonna go with Peg. RIP, Mr. Becker. |

Do It Again and Reelin In the Years for me. |

Deacon Blues, FM, Hey 19, Do it Again, Reelin in the Years, Peg, too many to choose. Woefully regret never having seen them live. |
