Come take a look at my latest finds at the local £1.00 GBP store, and a bit on the reason I was in there in the first place.

Nice find! And I must say after the undercoat they donīt look like bad sculpts at all. thumbs up

They'll certainly do the job Jack, especially for a quid (UK slang, probably our version of a buck I guess)

I bought an "'eathen Idol" just like that at my Dollar Tree years ago!
Here's the annoying part. They also had a similar multi-armed one (Shiva?) too, which I didn't buy because one of the arms was broken off.
When I got done slapping myself for being done and went back, it was gone. Duh!

The one I did get saw good service in a game or two on the NW Frontier.

It's also a very good source for extremely cheap gel superglue, the best thing in the world for sticking infantry to Flames of War plastic bases.

I had a similar experience with a sphinx in a charity shop Winston, and a pair of Chinese lions which would have looked fab as part of a gateway or suchlike.

I also recommend the Japanese dollar-and-a-half store, "Daiso", if you have one in your country/city/neighborhood…

Brilliant. I have two large garden Far eastern Lions that we use in 40K games.

All hail the dollar store! Cheap paper, foam board, plastic containers, etc. too.

Dear Bridget

YUP! Over here it's the dollar Store, Dollar General, and a host of others. We love em too and regularly scour them for stuff. It's amazing what you can get there.

My wife likes to go to them too for of course frequently other reasons. Whenever she sees me going through the shelves pawing the merchandise she will come over and say ..

"UGH!!! Is there NOTHING you won't pervert to use in your hobby???!!! "

My answer is always… nope!

Otto – love your wife's turn of phrase

While I do strafe the Dollar stores, my best, though more rare, finds come from the various thrift stores--Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Community Aid stores. Also I try to frequent the local flea markets to separate the unsuspecting vendors from their treasures at wheedled-down prices (the fools! Ahahahahahaha!)
