As well as their appearance at shows I have been steadily buying Cold War period miniatures online for the last few months. Orders take a while to be processed but do arrive.

I am impressed by the selection of troops.

I don't have any personal experience with the new H&R releases, but what I've seen in pictures, and heard from others, gives me quite a positive impression.

I do have a fair bit of direct experience with the older releases, having built several of my miniatures forces around H&R infantry since the mid/late 1990s. I have generally been quite pleased by the poses of H&R infantry, and the combinations provided in the packs.

In fact the unit on my active workbench at this moment is a WW2 US Army infantry unit, all H&R figures, which I am putting the final finishing touches on. These are quite old releases (both infantry and support weapons), but the combination of figures in the two packs still can't be beat.

Can we get a little information on what the combination of figures will be in the new infantry and support weapons packs?

The "new" style packs are made up as follows.
Infantry
40 infantry, 3 SMG teams (6) and the remainder made up of NCO's grenadiers etc.

Support
You get a random selection of 50 figures and support weapon which will include HMG, Mortars, Officers and RTO, large weapons go towards the count i.e. mortar but not a flamethrower.

Hope this helps.

I have always thought H&R did the best job in terms of poses and composition.

I game 1:1 and I appreciate the fact that you get at least a complete platoon + in every package, including command and platoon level support weapons in addition to 3-4 rifle squads.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new sculpts and finding a reliable retailer in the US. I was really unhappy that The Last Square quit stocking them and selling them at Little Wars.

Indeed it does. Thank you!

Yep yep yep. 100% agree.

I don't know why so many of the other vendors can't seem to get this, but clearly they don't.

I had to fill my "extras" bin with dozens of figures to complete a company of infantry using any of the packs from the other vendors I have chosen over the years. Or, worse yet, have had units I just could not finish because I couldn't get the LMGs I needed without buying 5x as many medium mortars as I would ever need, or I couldn't even get flamethrowers or mine clearers, or whatever.

Yep, cheers to H&R for their past infantry infantry packs and support weapons packs, and cheers to H&R for their new figures, and cheers to H&R for keeping up the good work in terms of the contents of the packs of the new releases!

;)

Saw H&R at Warfare at the weekend, they were selling some Para jeeps and trailers, although the display said that they were due out soon. Besides picking up some West Germans, I picked up a patrol of LRDG vehicles, a jeep scout car, a radio truck, a Breda truck, 2 trucks in travelling mode , and 2 trucks in fighting mode. The LRDG vehicles were also listed as due out soon.
