…Insurgence Emerges And The Military Cracks Down.

"Attacks by insurgents. A brutal military crackdown. Thousands of villagers running for their lives. History is repeating itself in Myanmar less than a year after the emergence of a new Rohingya Muslim insurgency first threatened fragile efforts to bring peace to the country's volatile western Rakhine state.

"In the west of my direction I am seeing smoke," a Rohingya man in his twenties, who asked not to be named for his safety, told TIME by phone Wednesday from Maungdaw town near the border with Bangladesh. I wasn't even sure where Myanmar is, apart from Asia. I know it better as Burma, just shows how out of touch I am…so another attempt to set up an IS.

Didn't we have a post yesterday's about the same folks that are running now wiped out a couple of police stations and made a bunch of attacks?

Huscarle – do read a bit about what the situation is with those poor bloody people. They're pretty much stuck between a Bangladesh which says "Go back to Burma" and Buddhist fundamentalists (yes, they exist) who say "Go back to Bangladesh". They've suffered ethnic cleansing operations, nobody in the area gives a damn about their problems, and, as if that's not enough, people who don't even know what name the Burmese government have adopted for the territory they claim to administer have decided that every Muslim is a terrorist. I loathe religion, but stupid bigotry is a disgrace wherever it happens. Think for a moment (if you can) of what actions you'd adopt after finding your family in a mass grave in a tropical forest.

You don't want to know what I'd do if that happened.

Suffice it to say that it would be ugly, and involve more explosions than a Michael Bay movie.

Agreed, 100%.
