Which set of rules do you recommend for the War of the Spanish Succession? |

Should this not be on the 18th Century Board?? |

Twilight of the Sun King, though I'm struggling a bit with the 2nd edition, it's not quite as clear to me as 1.1 was. |
Khusrau | 31 Aug 2017 1:45 p.m. PST |
Really depends on what you want from a set of rules, the scale you are using and so on. |

I enjoy Maurice for WSS. Simple, streamlined game rules that can have plenty of period feel by using the Nationals advantage cards properly. |

We have been using Blenheim 2004 for quite a few years now and have been very satisfied. |

Twilight of the Sun King, by far. There is very little that differentiates the others. |
daler240D | 31 Aug 2017 4:56 p.m. PST |
edit: Ga Pa is excellent IF you are REALLY into detailed games that take longer. Maurice is a great game, but it is a whole different world. |

Another vote for Twilight of the SunKing. We use 10 mm figures, 2 x 60mm bases make up a unit, but you can use any scale of figures and any basing, as all gire and movement dustancesxare referred to as " base widths". Have played Blenheim and Ramillies. Same rule set also useable for Great Northern War and War of League of Augsburg. Basic rules are easily picked up by most players. |

I have also used Twilight and like the rules. I have 2nd edition, but have not tried them yet. |

Well, currently using Horse Foot & Guns, and have Maurice. |

Wait, there's more than one ruleset for West Side Story?!? |
cae5ar | 05 Sep 2017 7:16 p.m. PST |
I'm yet to find a set of rules I like better than Maurice. |
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART | 10 Sep 2017 4:58 a.m. PST |
We used Black powder. For us, the rules chose the period for various reasons. It played fast and fun. Like Khusrau says, what kind of experience are you looking for. If the rule set is called 'Battle of Midway' and is perfect for European Medieval combat, go for it. |

West Side Story was very complex and needed a good rule set. Not sure that Broadway captured the feeling well so a West End re-write is needed. |

Piquet Field of Battle or Cartouche are nice alternatives as is Die Fighting and Capt General in addition to those already mentioned |

Probably me being useless but where can you get Might & Reason – I can't find them anywhere |

Carnage & Glory II is outstanding. If you don't like the computer, then GaPa is specific to the period, outstanding army lists (I used them to my whole OOBs and use them for C&G as well), and GaPa plays well. Some unusual aspects and mechanics, but works well and plays well. |
