What figures are suggested for 15mm Corsairs of Umbar?

I doubt there is any definitive answer to this!
I would think the Gripping Beast plastic Arab spearmen and archers might do the trick!

I thought the Corsairs were former men of Gondor.

I thought the Corsairs were former men of Gondor.

Originally they were indeed Numenoreans, but by the time of the War of the Ring, there had been so much interaction with other races (esp Southrons) that little Numenorean remained in their genetic mix.

My only thought though is that if they were so similar in appearance as the Haradrim, why would Tolkien differentiate between Haradrim and Corsairs. They may look similar as men, but I would think that clothing and armor styles may still be different.

Umbar was far south of Gondor. It was a good deal closer to Harad with which it had ties. No reason why they couldn't adopt styles of the Haradrim. So Arab pirates would be a valid option. I'm sure other specific options would be welcomed as well.

This is true. At the vary least I would think that they would be more litely armed than the Haradrim. No Cav. or armor heavier than leather I should think.

That makes sense.

PS: Sorry I missed the fact that you were looking for 15mm figures!

Are those Tripoli pirates 15mm? They would be ace for Warhammer Araby models!
