My father has a number of story's about a pair of outlaws told to him by his grandfather. They were named Billy Bullas and Shorty Gray. They were in Missouri but I am not sure exactly where. I cant find anything about them, and my parents would like to know more than just the family storys.

Anybody know anything about these 2?

Here's something:

link

How'd I find it?

It's called Google.

No really?

While I appreciate the help, I am always a bit surprised at the snark some have to put out when they can find something you cant.

Nothing on either of them in "The Pimlico Encyclopedia of Western Gunfighters." Have you tried local historical societies?

Had not thought of that. The problem is that it is my 80 YO father remembering what is elderly grandfather remembered from when dad was a young boy. They ere living in Montana by that time, so I dont even have a general area, just the state. I think my father is interested in finding out if what he was told was just tall tales or if there was something to it. He could not find anything. and it is not an area of my expertise either. My googlefu was not strong so I turned to TMP.

Thanks to anybody me look

badger22- perhaps my snark comes from my own amazement at how frequently people don't make even a slight effort on their own behalf (of which I've sometimes been guilty). Took me roughly thirty seconds to find the link and I do hope you checked out the link because it actually mentions Shorty Gray. Oh, and sometimes snark is meant to be humorous, humor being a good way to address our foibles. That just might be a hint.

I ron I cal.

Seems Shorty was a leader of a gang of bank robbers – perhaps Billy being one of the gang. Since Shorty served time in prison there's likely records somewhere with more information.

Yes I checked the link, and do appreciate the effort.

I have looked on a couple of occasions, and mostly get a list of facebook profiles and such crap. And even now that I have the site you found, I cant get it to come up on a search. I just tried again and found this thread but not that one.

However, as I write this I realize that I mostly use Aol search and perhaps that leads to different results. 40 years ago I trained as a historian, and I can search the hell out of a library. Sometimes the net works less well.

Ah, now you see why I said "It's called Google". Best search algorithm I've found on the web – though recent changes are yet to be fully experienced. Haven't touched AOL in 10+ years. Microcrap's search engine is essentially a useless pile of, well, you get the picture.
