Our club has an informal rule that everyone is entitled to have at least some of their own hand-painted miniatures on the table when we organize a game. Do you find that you like miniature gaming better with your own figures in play? Or, does it really not make any difference in how much you enjoy the game?

(a) Yes, it is more enjoyable when I have some of my own miniatures on the table.
(b) No, it doesn't make it more enjoyable one way or the other.
(c) I would rather not have my own painted miniatures on the table at all.

Not much of a difference but I'm always glad to see my figures get a 'run out'

Sure. I get to use them and show them off. But it won't keep me from playing

B- however our group is such that the host usually has enough figures for both sides, 3 players a side. I truly think it is a sickness- we cannot stop ourselves from buying more stuff.

A. I feel I have more of a stake in the result. I am more than happy to play with others figures and sometimes it's easier than lugging mine around.

Absolutely "A". Why else collect them if not to play?

A. I paint these things for a reason.

What FD said.

The way our group operates, the troops on the table are either all yours, or none of them are.
If we're playing a 25mm AWI game, they're all mine.
If we're playing a 15mn Napoleonic game, none are.

If I have figures that will work in a game then A. If not then B.

A most of the time but if it is a period/scale I'm thinking about I would prefer to use someone elses figures before I spend money on collecting another army/project.

B.

I enjoy well-painted troops, no matter who brought them to the game.

[A] all the way!

B. Good to be able to play games from periods that I don't have time or inclination to paint. Mind you, it usually results in me starting yet another army.

(A) – and I now have virtually no figures that I haven't myself painted, with the only exception IIRC, being a FWC force that appeared in the rulebook, and I bought them at an excellent price.

I do enjoy playing regardless of the figures, but I prefer to play with my own figures.

Bandolier28 Aug 2017 11:28 p.m. PST

A – If I have the figures.
B – If it's something I don't collect.
