Today marks the end of an era….

I have completed the LAST unit of Lancers i will EVER paint. The 6th Lancers of the 2d Cav Div at Waterloo is the end of the line for Neys Lancers at Quatre Bras' OOB i am painting in 15mm. I started collecting and painting the OOB of the battle at the crossroads some 15 years ago with designs on having it completed for the 200 anniversary. Alas, that goal was never accomplished. But I am closer. Now with these boys completed, I move on to the Cuirassers.

I don't plan (said nearly every gamer) on moving to 28mms as I have too much lead to paint in 15s to ever worry about the grim reaper…

But it is nice knowing that i have moved one step closer to completion. Pictures will be on FB's napoleonic wargamer page once the basing is completed.

But it does poise an interesting question:
What is the LAST of a unit you painted?

Madcam.

HaHaHa- foolish me is still painting last units!

I had it in my head to do Austerlitz by 1990 (haven't done it yet). Gettysburg by 2000 (did it by 1992). Blenheim by 2004 (nope). Sealion (not yet) and Waterloo by 2015 (got it done 2016). All in 15mm.
That said I am really close to finishing many armies but I get hooked into something new before completion! Too many nice new figures not enough time.

I tried to do Borodino for 2012… My MDF bases ended up growing a crop of mold, which scuppered the project. I rebased a few units on plastic, but the majority of the painted figs are still being quarantined in ziploc baggies five years down the line.
For that matter, I never did finish painting everything.

When I finish a project, I always feel a mixture of sadness, relief, and wonder (where I got all the time to do the figures!)

Last units? There are at least 80 British AWI infantry regiments I haven't gotten around to yet.
