Well, that's certainly cheery!

Great work, but a bit too morose for my tastes.

Sorry, that's a bit much.

What's supposed to be happening?

Throwing him in the well is how I read it.

Can't understand why they'd be doing that, unless they are about to abandon the area to the enemy, as it would poison the water supply. I also think they would have stripped off his uniform first, as per the Goya drawings of similar guerillero atrocities against French prisoners.

Yup! Anything of value (His boots would be prized)which would include his uniform, would be stripped off. The bodies at most battles were always looted and stripped. It's only since about the last 175 years that 'in general' a more 'caring' and respectful handling of the dead has been implemented.

Remember! Teeth and even hair was taken from bodies after Waterloo, and later, even the bones processed for fertilizer.

Odd subject.

He is clearly already dead so, presumably, these folk (who do not look remotely Spanish) merely want to avoid retribution and so want to dispose of the body.

Clearly not the healthiest decision if they are locals with no access to bottles spring water from the local store.

But again, I have to ask…why? I can think of many subjects one could model which would be even more offensive, from My Lai to Babi Yar, from Malmedy to Srebrenica(?)…I can't even spell that but you know what I mean. But why model it?

I recall folk asking about uniforms of Direlwanger's Unit in Warsaw…..naw

The one who is holding the body also has a bloody 'cut-throat' knife in his mouth.

Yeah OK, I often get up in the morning and think "Hey, you know what? I fancy painting a dead guy being thrown down a Well."

Seriously weird.
