May I suggest Little Britons from Spencer Smith miniatures or Irregular's 42mm line.

For the game I ran at Historicon a few years back, I used the old Wm Britains that I also use for Little Wars and Joe Morschauser games. I think it would work well with SAE figures too.

I use the stuff I cast myself for battle games. For Shambattle, that would be Guardsmen painted in the colors of the Danish Livgard. For OMOG, I use the classic army men cast from the old metal three-cavity molds and some from rubber / silicon molds.
