Mutant Q21 Aug 2017 11:33 a.m. PST

With the release of Starfinder which has the option of using traditional high fantasy races along side the new, I was wondering if any of the miniature manufactures where now going to offer Space Elves, Space Halflings, Space Dwarves? (And I'm not talking 40K.)

I'm hoping for the ratfolk to be in miniature form. I'd probably buy all of them…

Don't Mantic Games do some in their Warpath Range ?

Inspired by the artwork in the rules, I'm creating a flirty, daredevil, female Halfling star pilot, call-sign "Shortcake." It would be nice to find a mini that matched.

In the meantime, I may have to use Hero Forge. I don't like the idea of paying $30 USD for a single, paint-quality miniature, but there isn't a lot of other options handy right now.

Mutant Q
Might hfminis.co.uk 's Pilot Hayden do link she is marketed as Grymn (dwarf) but might serve as a halfling.

She might do at that. I may swap out the weapon for something a little more sci-fi, but she might do.

Sola link was the hfminis.co.uk mini I first thought of for you're halfling pilot but could not find her. She was hidden under pirates (space pirate dwarf).

Well at least they do Space Dwarves – I.E. Forge Fathers

They also do Space Orks – Marauders

But if you want Space Elves I would recommend the Old Rogue Trader Eldar.

I saw Starfinder Book at the FLGS this yesterday.

Elves in Space: Maybe I'll some Darrian-centered StarGrunt games.

I always think of the Eldar as the KKK in Space, because of the shape of their helmets.

What do you use for Darrians?

Mantic does make a line of space rats, but they're not quite the aesthetic I'm looking for, at least for 'character' models. Also, most of the one's I've seen are masked – I'd rather see their ratty faces. :)

David Johansen22 Aug 2017 7:35 a.m. PST

Mantic does have space elves but I think at present they've got one actual model. The use robots to fight their battles, like sensible immortals. They're getting some lunatics who use bows later on. Not really thrilled but for a Star Finder space elf it might be appropriate.

Honestly, I like Mantic a lot better when they put their own spin on things than when they outright copy GW. That's right, I like the original Orx from Warpath version 1 better than the ones from Dead Zone.

Any cat people from Katmandu?

I think Khurasan has Catmen ?

@dragon6: I haven't run any games with Darrians yet. I think I'll use some old Warhammer Space Marines with the beaked helmets.

Well when you think of it Vulcans and Romulans are already space Elves, and long before 40K introduced the Eldar.

But I've always thought there should be more about them to make them truly alien. So I've created a alien race of Elves and called them the Veld, the Earthers see them as religious fanatics in spite of the Veld being more advance than Earth. Cosmetically they look like normal elves except for their eyes, no iris, pupil or white is visible. They're eyes are completely black. And their tech is often hidden to seem less advance. I want their ships to be a homage to those from the Lensman books.

I've never found a miniature that would represent them very well, yet.
