FFG announces new miniature game link Join the thrilling infantry battles of the Star Wars™ galaxy with Star Wars: Legion, a two-player miniatures game that puts you in command on a war-torn battlefield of the Galactic Civil War. While innovative mechanics simulate the chaos of battle and the fog of war, thirty-three unpainted and easily assembled miniatures give you a blank slate to paint and create a truly unique army. Over the course of six rounds, you must battle and maneuver your units to claim objectives. The points you gain from these objectives are your pathway to victory, and whoever has the most points at the end of the game claims victory! Whether you're brand-new to miniatures games or a seasoned veteran, Star Wars: Legion is the perfect entrypoint to the hobby. link link |

They're coming for me again. I ditched my X-Wing, sold off Armada before I'd even opened it, and white-knuckled it through release after release of Imperial Assault. Now, they're playing dirty. But it's OK, you can have a perfectly decent game *just* with the contents of the starter box! Yeeeah, that's the ticket…. give you a blank slate to paint and create a truly unique army. Storm troopers are the slates you leave blank! |

Interesting. I saw some Star Wars figures in boxes at Game Nite Wednesday. They might have been this, but I don't remember the game name. The figures looked good but I am just starting my Arthurian army. I don't need more troops in another genre to paint (or to buy, either). We will see. Back many years ago I had Star Wars 25mm metal minis, but they are long sold, traded or wherever they went. |

After what we saw Darth Vader do in Rogue One, seems like this is no win for the Rebellion….. |

I wouldn't exactly call 8 figs per side epic… |

And should we start a pool--winner being whoever gets closest to the scale THIS time? Another Stars Wars miniature game, another scale. And of course new characters and troop types from the movies are never reproduced in the former scales. Thank you guys. Never again. |

I like the idea here, but what made me quit Xwing was that it stopped being about the ships, and became all about collecting the CARDS, giving players a choice between buying tons of stuff they didn't want or hoping for a score on the Ebay aftermarket – I.E. CCG marketing tactics for a miniatures game. I can't see them NOT trying the same sales tactic with Legion. Fantasy Flight does good work, but if this is going to be their marketing tactic, I'm not going to encourage them. |

All fantasy flight games are in essense collectable card games with miniatures. Not miniature games with cards. Are the models in the same scale as imperial Assault? |

How is this different than Imperial Assault? I've never played it, so I'm genuinely asking. |

Imp Assault is a board game with miniatures, I haven't played but it seems like a RPG type hydbrid. This is being sold as a full miniatures game. |

"Are the models in the same scale as imperial Assault?" Some say yes, others say no. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I don't own any of the Imperial Assault figures, mainly because I didn't like the fact that (for the run-of-the-mill troops anyway) the poses were exactly the same. I might get into both if they are compatible. |

Word is no match. New figs are larger along 35mm lines. I saw a comparison photo. Plus, new figs are in chunky style with larger heads, like classic figs. |

The full advert I've seen quotes 33 figures. Pictures show the rebels with 16 figures and a walker type whilst the Imperials have 16 including 2 speeder bikes. Cost is £90.00 GBP which works out at £3.00 GBP per figure with the rules thrown in (or out depending on your views!) |

Pre ordered. What a great day. |

What scale are the figures? |
Mezmaron | 19 Aug 2017 10:06 a.m. PST |
They are 35mm – not compatible with Imperial Assault…. Bummer, as I was hoping to use painted IA models in the game. And the Luke has a huge head – looks like a child.
But game looks great. If you paint and have good scenery.

Not slamming on FFG, since I like their stuff. But, they probably HAD to make this game in a slightly off scale. If they made them closer to the old WOTC scale (which ran the gamut from <25mm to ~28mm), I'm thinking at least some people would be using those old figures. I may very do just that, but I'll still buy the FFG stuff if the gameplay reviews are favorable. |

To bad it's 35mm. Regardless, don't use the rules and cards, use the figs with your preferred set of rules. It's what I plan on doing. |
Tommy20 | 19 Aug 2017 9:56 p.m. PST |
We'll likely do just the opposite: use the rules with WOTC figs, which are already paInted and ready to play with! |
Captain Gideon | 20 Aug 2017 8:34 a.m. PST |
And with the WOTC figures you have a greater number of figures to choose from. |
clifblkskull | 20 Aug 2017 9:30 a.m. PST |
I intermix all of those and they generally work fine together I am keen to get a copy of Legion Watched the Demo games and like the system Clif |

Like tommy20, have boxes of figures that I can use the rules with |
awalesII | 21 Aug 2017 2:59 p.m. PST |
"not compatible with Imperial Assault…. " My wallet is happy -- easy no. |
