Of possible interest? "Commands & Colors Tricorne – The American Revolution is not overly complex. The game is based on the highly successful Commands & Colors game system, where the Command cards drive movement while creating a "fog of war" and the battle dice resolve combat quickly and efficiently. Commands & Colors Tricorne – The American Revolution, however, introduces many new game concepts, which will add historical depth and provide even the most veteran Commands & Colors player many new play experiences and challenges"

Long overdue and even obvious extension of the system. But what a dull and dreadful name. All the rich phrasing of the AWI, and that's what hey came up with? "Liberty or Death" "The Glorious Cause" "Sacred Honor" "All Good Men" "Let Freedom Ring" "Blood of Patriots" "Thirteen Stars" And I'm leaving out countless better titles which will surely come to mind. They can't have " Redcoats & Minutemen," though. I've already claimed that one. |

I watched them play test this system with miniatures at Hurricon and Recon , the Orlando shows, for years. It has been ready for a long time but the issue was finding the right publisher. |

It's a practical name for a practical game. I've played hundreds of the Napoleonic version of this game. I don't understand why the author didn't publish again with GMT games. Compass games seem overpriced. |

I have dibs on "Flames of Liberty"!

How about "America: The French Victory"? |

Come on, Supercilius Maximus, I know you don't mean that! A minute ago, I searched for this game online and took a look at the art that goes on the blocks, which is a pretty important part of these games. It's not bad, plus the troop mix looks pretty good. But there are too many guys firing their muskets with their left hands with their cartridge boxes on their left hips. That's a problem that was hopefully fixed before the game was released. |

The block illustrations were done so that the Brits & Hessians are facing one way & the Continental forces are facing the other way. It was done this way to aid with unit/side recognition. |

Come on, Supercilius Maximus, I know you don't mean that! What's wrong – not catchy enough? I'm sure someone must have said it, or the 18th Century equivalent (I hate tea, btw, and am actually allergic to it – even the smell makes me feel sick). No offence intended. |

Tricorne is a boring name. Played extensions of the system for SYW. So it is just the beginning (in theory if there is enough buyers) of a series covering 18th century warfare. In this iteration each army has its own deck of cards with unique attributes. Needs a catchy 18th century name, not just AWI. |

Agreed that it could have a better name. Hoping the first expansion, with the French, is not too long in coming. |

My copy arrived yesterday. I had forgotten the joys of putting the stickers on all those little blocks. ;) The "Combat Cards" add an interesting and flavourful dimension to this game. They reflect the training and discipline of the British army nd also give ethe Continentals some capability for irregular warfare. |

Glad to hear it got released. Took longer than expected….. |

Received my copy today and got the Hessian & Continental blocks stickered up before I ran out of gas for tonight. It looks great. Should be a lot of fun once it actually gets on the table and all of this rather tedious prep work is finished up. I'm excited to finally have this C&C game whose subject is one of my favorite periods. |

Going to try and do Tricorne with 15mm minis on a 4" hex grid. Have most of the terrain prepared already, just needing to order the game now (mainly for the combat [tactics] cards, oh, and the different dice). I'll probably try a modified [multi-player] ordering mechanism eventually, where players will roll their combat dice, and the matched icons will denote corresponding units that can be ordered within a players command. I've done this with Epic Battle Cry scenarios, having 3 participants on a side, and most players like this better than waiting for command cards to 'come their way' (this allows enjoying the stock scenarios with greater than one player on a side, or as mentioned, with EPIC scenarios). Sorry about linking to BGG here, but as many of you know, Photo Bucket is 'pay to play' now, so can't link photos on TMP anymore from my decade+ old PB account: link |

Well I am not going to purchase the game because it has a boring name. So there! |

I will be curious if Richard has received any by the Hurricon show in Orlando at the end of September. His booth is next to mine so I will be able to check out the components. Recently they have been play testing a Space Fleet combat system which may have already been picked up. |
