What's the smallest/cheapest laser cutter that can burn through 2mm mdf? I keep getting ideas for bases and movement trays but would rather muck about with them myself than commit to orders. So mostly for prototyping – not for high production.

Thanks!

A 40W system will do 2mm MDF. Around $300 USD on e-Bay. Watch YouTube reviews before ordering a cutter. Cheers!

Thanks Sgt. Slag – I'll do a bit of research. Was wondering which wattage was the way to go.

If you are on facebook then I'd suggest joining the laser cutting and engraving group – they have a detailed document on buying a cheap chinese laser laying out someone's experience.
