Maker of fine 20mm vehicles is due to close from the ends of September this year. All orders received before then will be honoured, but unless a buyer is found that is it. So if there is anything you want from them better get it now. link |

Sad to see, thanks for posting Fred. |

They are very good quality models. Shame nobody wants to run the line . We are all getting older! |

Yeah I look around at Trade shows these days and reckon I'm one of the oldest still running ( since 1984 and if you count Mikes Models times since 1979). Another 5 years, Gods willing, for me. Long and happy retirement for Barry :) Quality kit :) L |

Sad news. I hope that Barry will have a long and happy retirement. |

Very sad news. Always felt MMS tanks were like AB for figures, the best quality. I must have about 60 of these models. People always comment how nice they are at conventions. Guess I will have to place my final order. Too bad, that leaves only SHQ for all metal tanks in 20mm? Maybe a white knight will ride in and buy this excellent line. Can only hope. Wishing Barry the best in retirement, thanks for your wonderful contribution to our hobby. |

They do some unique models and are a good source for the more unusual British trucks and have a lovely model of the German MG Doppelwagen a horse drawn flak trailer. I hope someone picks up the range, but not for the faint hearted. Lots of codes to get back into production. |

That's a real shame. although I never used any of their models, I admired the quality, but preferred to stick to 1/72 because of the wide range of model kits. |

Are these MMS models much smaller than say PSC kits and do MMS accommodate AB figures inside? |
Fred Cartwright | 25 Aug 2018 6:39 a.m. PST |
MMS were true 1/76 so a bit smaller than PSC which I think are 1/72. AB figures would fit. Your main problem is finding any MMS Models for sale as they closed a year ago. |
Blacky750 | 26 Aug 2018 1:39 a.m. PST |
MMS fit AB quite well, perhaps a bit of trimming of feet but otherwise look good. But you can't mix the AFVs but softskins would possibly work depending on the type |

Barry, you are a class act, I wish you a long and happy retirement. |
Au pas de Charge | 26 Aug 2018 10:25 a.m. PST |
Well, if one were to do all of one nation as MMS Models and the other from PSC, would it make a big difference size wise? |
Fred Cartwright | 26 Aug 2018 11:48 a.m. PST |
If you do all of one vehicle type from one or the other it should be fine. As I said before your main problem is to find any MMS models as they closed last year. |
Au pas de Charge | 26 Aug 2018 2:53 p.m. PST |
If i did manage to find some what other makes do they sync up with well? I do appreciate your input. |

SHQ, Grubby Tanks and Early War Miniatures are 3 companies worth a look. All have extensive ranges. Again all are 1/76 scale AFAIK, although Grubby tanks look a bit chubbier than the others so may be closer to 1/72, but if you buy all your vehicles of the same type from the same manufacturer it should be fine. |
Au pas de Charge | 26 Aug 2018 3:46 p.m. PST |
I take it that Airfix and Matchbox kits are a good bet with MMS, SHQ, Grubby etc? Also, are Armourfast and S-Models on the small side for 1/72? You know, I bought some SHQ stuff (vehicles) and i wasnt sure the quality was all that and a bag of schnitzel. I understand Milicast is also 1/76. My concern is the robustness of the models because they have to get sent to a painter and then shipped to me. Are their resin models prone to disintegrating or breaking in the post? I will take a look at Early War Minis, they have some very, very nice sets. |
Fred Cartwright | 26 Aug 2018 9:13 p.m. PST |
Airfix and Matchbox are 1/76, the kits by Hasegawa and Esci were 1;72, asare Armourfast and S-Models as far as I know, but sometimes the scales are not exact or the models not right to scale. The Airfix Crusader is too long for example. What went wrong in the tolling I have no idea or maybe the plans they worked off were wrong. |

I understand Milicast is also 1/76. My concern is the robustness of the models because they have to get sent to a painter and then shipped to me. Are their resin models prone to disintegrating or breaking in the post? Milicast are very well detailed resin kits, more for modellers than wargamers because some of the parts won't stand up to much handling. But if you choose an appropriate vehicle, or leave off the vulnerable bits, they are excellent renditions of the real thing. |
mysteron | 27 Aug 2018 1:23 a.m. PST |
They have simplified many of their models and are now far more robust than they used to be .They are lovely models . |
Blacky750 | 27 Aug 2018 5:23 p.m. PST |
I have about 200 Milicast Models in my Forces, probably close to the same again still waiting to be built plus spent about £1,000.00 GBP in Barry's last hurrah. As with plastic kits if there is a fragile bit not required for wargaming I don't add it, they fit well with SHQ, Matchbox, Airfix and MMS |

There's also my ranges, These are going through a program of remastering as time allows. |

@Blacky750 How do you like mixing MMS and SHQ vehicles? Is the quality there for SHQ? @Frontline Tim You have some nice things throughout your site Which makers 2omm minis work best inside your boats and vehicles? |
Frontline Tim | 01 Sep 2018 11:47 a.m. PST |
MiniPigs, I would have to say anyone who produces any slender figs, such as SHQ,AB etc. I should say IT as I now own them as well. I am going to be working on drivers and crews for the open top transport and tanks. |
