Lovely painting, as usual, Dan!

I used GW nuln oil on the metallics, and a vellajo brown (not at my desk so not sure which one) on the flesh, I do use more washes on figs, depending on their scale and subject, but nothing else on these, I alway use washes when painting camo, but make my own much more subtle wash.

This really does deserve a bump. The volume and quality alone would be impressive. Together they are just superb.

If you don't mind me asking, how many figs are there, and how long did it take you to paint them?

By the way, great job they look fantastic!

Gunner Dunbar29 Oct 2018 2:14 a.m. PST

Not sure of the specifics, I have done a lot of commissions this size, and I mean a lot, there's about 250 figs there, and it would take about 2 weeks, I'm doing a similar number of Saxons and Austrian cavalry at the moment.

Whenever I start flagging I look at photos like this and it spurs me on.
Could I ask what paints you use? What are your favourites and why? Would be very interested to hear from you!

Fantastic work!!

Hi let's party, sorry, didn't see your question, I use mostly Vallejo, with a smattering of GW, GW holds the blue I like for French/Poles etc, Kandor blue, I have tried a few Vallejo blues but didn't really like them, I also use GW silver and the brown for most of my horses, just like those colours, but most other stuff is Vallejo.
Ps, I also use GW dwarf flesh, though I lighten it a lot with white, it's a very warm flesh, I find some flesh colours very pale.

Thanks for that Gunner. Will check out the Kantor Blue.

Gunner Dunbar10 Nov 2018 4:01 p.m. PST

Kator blue, not kandor blue, right you are, GW has such stupid names, why not use normal names, what's wrong with dark blue or navy blue?

oldbob11 Nov 2018 11:02 p.m. PST

Very nice brush work.

The Tyn Man13 Jan 2019 1:13 p.m. PST

Hi Dan, I was checking out your blog and pricing. Do the costs include the price of the fig, or do your customers supply them?

Cheers,
Dean

Gunner Dunbar06 May 2019 7:37 p.m. PST

Hi the tyn man, sorry, missed your question, price is for painting, customer supplies figures.

Tyler32607 May 2019 12:12 p.m. PST
