Beautiful and horrific at the same time!

Makes me cold. And that is really a neat trick in August.

Excellent detail all round up to the raven and icon on the polish soldiers backpack

Amazing work to say the very least.

Looks so much better in monochrome…a forgotten feature nowadays. The bottom picture is outstanding.

It is not just the monochrome in the bottom picture (but it does help). It is the whole composition.

The top picture especially shows beautiful paint work of Napoleonic parade ground uniforms. I wish I had a quarter of that skill.

But is it artwork? Do they look chilled, let alone cold, even frozen? Is there a trace of frost? Who wears a brass helmet in minus 40?

We have seen so many Retreat dioramas recently in glorious and superbly rendered colour. Like WWII it was actually conducted in Black and White…or…like The Duellists or The Matrix….with a green wash.

Now that is art
