"Gothic is the third supplement for the Victorian Science Fiction rules In Her Majesty's Name, written by Charles Murton and Craig Cartmell, but it is the first published directly by The Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare, as opposed to Osprey Publishing.

Whilst the original IHMN rules and supplements viewed the Victorian world through the eye of some of the classic science fiction writers of the period, Gothic takes an altogether darker tone as it explores the Victorian world of Gothic Horror, with a few little twists, as you might expect from the authors…"

"10. Finally, there are some notes on backwards compatibility with previous IHMN books."

Which includes how to equip some of the earlier given companies so they can 'bump back' against those things that go bump in the night.

Bought it, but haven't read it. If I had a complaint, under these conditions, it'd be that it's not the same size as its predecessors in the series. How bizarre. Yeah I know, different publisher.

If I had a complaint about the review it's that regurgitating the Table of Contents isn't particularly helpful. There's a Highly Recommended endorsement without much discussion of why. There's also scant evidence it had been played which is a bummer for me.

They got my money, so it doesn't really matter, but I'm thinking for those on the fence who want more insight.

I think we polled this awhile back and decided that unboxing reviews are of little value.

Hi Flashman,

I understand your comment on the size of the book. The thing to realise is that the Osprey 64 page/25,000 words format was very restrictive, it also mean that the typescript was quite small.
When Charles and I founded The Ministry, we decided to go for an A4 format so we could give you twice the content, at a much more readable size, for only a little more than the original Osprey price.
It also makes it easier to print out the PDFs, as it is a standard paper size.
Have you visited the IHMN Facebook page?

You shall find lots of people playing all the IHMN supplements including Gothic.
Cheers,
Craig
