This is an excellent book for those who want to understand who is at the Alamo. We learn that Jim Bowie which probably one of the biggest con artists in the early 19th century, selling "Spanish line grants."

Travis deserted his family, but I think this comes out in the last Alamo movie. I like Davy Crockett's campaign slogan, "vote for me or I'll go to Texas." He went.

Very good read; I highly recommend it, for whatever that's worth :-)

Yes, this is a well-researched history that is still very readable for enjoyment. Rattling good stories about some fascinating characters during a blustery time period! One of the better Alamo-related books out there.

An excellent book that I am happy to have in my library. Lots of Ido on those three characters warts and all.

I've read it but the best Alamo book is The Blood of Heroes by James Donovan.
