When did Dr Who jump the shark?

Tom Reed08 Aug 2017 9:55 a.m. PST

What are you talking about?

Col Durnford08 Aug 2017 10:13 a.m. PST

When Daleks could fly.

Adric.

But then it got better!

Col Durnford08 Aug 2017 10:42 a.m. PST

The Wesley Crusher of Dr Who.

I think I know what he is talking about.

But we covered that already.

Feminism ruins everything.

When didn't it?

PaddySinclair09 Aug 2017 7:25 a.m. PST

Possibly when Bertie Basset showed up as a monster?

Or when you got gratuitous cameos from well known comedians?

Or when the lead turned to camera to wish everyone a Merry Christmas?

So in short, possibly once or twice each season…

Back in the late eighties when they dumped the science based plots in favor of mystical mumbo jumbo.

It has already jumped the shark, just not yet.

Rudysnelson09 Aug 2017 12:35 p.m. PST

Remember , it was developed as a children's show, not for the adult target group. Some of the episodes under One and Two were very juvenile. As the initial target group got older, the scripts matured. It has jumped the shark many times in my 50 plus years of watching it.
I do agree that the changing nature of the Daleks is frustrating. They were mutants but mortal in the beginning but now they are immortal and can fly.

Daleks could always fly. It just happend that those Daleks seen in the early serieses were afraid of flying and so choose not to fly.

Adric

True, but they saw their mistake and blew him up.

Dynaman878910 Aug 2017 3:38 a.m. PST

Adric was not that bad, the one after him, Turlough, I believe was a terrible terrible character. Tegan was a horrible companion too.

Nothing against either actor, the parts simply stunk. Janet Fielding in particular is a riot to listen to when she does commentary tracks.

Sad folks here I see.
Many close to rabid.
