If the dolls had looked as hot as this 1/6 scale model here. Wow!

There must be something VERY wrong with me. Or maybe I have Russian ties. :)

Dan
PS. I have a feeling that I wouldn't have been the only one here making that sacrifice. :)

A fine looking model! I'm with you Dan.

Cacique Caribe08 Aug 2017 3:10 a.m. PST

Vigilant,

Lol. You have no idea how many times the girls in our neighborhood would beg for one or more of us to join them in playing with their dolls. I could never figure out what they liked about their weird dolls, specially when they looked like this:

picture

Or maybe the girls just wanted to do something else with us, and we were too immature and too dense to see it. :)

Dan
PS. I read somewhere that the one in the OP was modeled after the beautiful Natalia Poklonskaya (former Prosecutor General of the Republic of Crimea). But if that was supposed to be Poklonskaya, I simply don't see it.

I'd play with Natalia as an adult.

GROSSMAN08 Aug 2017 11:31 a.m. PST

It's not a doll, it's an action figure…

Grossman: "It's not a doll, it's an action figure"

Lol. I just realized that's what some would say about people too. :)

Yeah … like we use military models to simulate historical conflicts past, present & future. To war game/study weapons, tactics, etc. evil grin

But most just call it grown men[and some women] playing with toys … wink

E.g. here's some my 6mm futuristic Infantry[i.e. Hammer's Slammers, for sake of accuracy] I use to war game actions that could/might/possibly occur at some future date, etc.,.

picture

But to most … they are just pretty little toys … for kids … huh? LOL ! laugh

Cacique Caribe09 Aug 2017 7:19 a.m. PST

Lol. You think that's bad? At a party my wife once told a few friends of ours that I "play with little men".

I got some 40K figures donated to me by a friend of a friend whose boyfriend wanted her to get rid of the wargame stuff. The box was labeled "WAR DOLLS". Since then SWMBO, DOM, SOM, and I have referred to the minis as "my dollies".

In the grand scheme of things, I have a house, a lovely spouse, a hobby that I get paid for, and two kids with college degrees and their own paid hobbies. And I play with dolls.

Also, I have a collection of Barbie dolls.

Hey ! I didn't say it was really a bad thing ! I paint little toy soldiers too … Lots of them ! evil grin

Toaster09 Aug 2017 5:10 p.m. PST

A friend of mine has made custom mods to Barbie dolls, he has done zombie Barbie and chestburster Barbie.

Robert

Cacique Caribe09 Aug 2017 7:57 p.m. PST

Lol. Chestburster Barbie?

Dan
EDIT – Check out what I found when I looked up chestburster Barbie:

A toy playing with Toys ! huh?

picture

Henry Martini10 Aug 2017 5:30 p.m. PST

Some years ago I had a girlfriend who would tease me by asking 'are you going to play with your dollies, now?'.

Charlie 1210 Aug 2017 6:13 p.m. PST

Everytime I go out for a gaming gig, the GF always asks "are you playing with your toy soldiers or your toy boats tonight?" When I tell her which, she then gives me a peck on the cheek and says "now play nice with the other boys".

Cacique Caribe10 Aug 2017 10:19 p.m. PST

Henry M,
Lol. Did you stop to think that maybe what she wanted was for you to play with HER dolls.? :)

Charlie 12,
Now that is toooo cute! I really like that. My wife used to do that too, back when I was able to sit for a game or two.

What's really funny is that a girl in my Japanese class looks almost exactly like her…

Cacique Caribe17 Aug 2017 2:12 a.m. PST

Lion,

Do you mean she looks like the doll or like Poklonskaya?

Dan

Lion in the Stars21 Aug 2017 10:21 p.m. PST

Like Poklonskaya.

Weirded me out the first time I saw pics of Poklonskaya, I was wondering when the girl moved to the Ukraine!

Tom D124 Aug 2017 11:20 a.m. PST

In my case one of my law clerks refers to "your little men."

Hafen von Schlockenberg14 Nov 2017 8:31 p.m. PST

As far as the OP,they had plenty of prototypes to choose from:

She sounds like a wonderful woman, Charlie.

Aotrs Commander15 Nov 2017 7:25 a.m. PST

Pssh! Playing with Barbies?

Ponies, now *that's* where it's at!

(No, as a matter of fact, I *don't* have any shame…!)

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP In the TMP Dawghouse15 Nov 2017 8:31 a.m. PST

huh? Some guys will wargame with anything ! laugh

Aotrs Commander15 Nov 2017 8:53 a.m. PST

I suppose I should spoil the illusion a little and note that while:

a) Said ponies were posed post-battle and were not actually participants,

b) the actual sci-fi race whose vehicles they are placed behind are, in fact, a race of carnivorous telekinetic tetracorns inspired BY said ponies

and c) they are, however, still *my* ponies – i.e., I did not crib them off my niece or something. (Which I have for the specific use for posing in photos thereof[1] with deliberately terrible/unfunny captions[2].)

[2]This one was "charge of the Twilight brigade," on account of one of the characters being called "Twlight Sparkle," you see. It is, to paraphrase a wise scholar "a (bad) Pune or play on words…"

Hey they look like nice little ponies too ! evil grin

Call her "Cammy." Couldn't help it, I was a big 'Street Fighter' junkie back in the '90s.

The real Barbie's Ukrainian. Ogle, I mean Google "Valeria Lukyanova."

Cacique Caribe15 Nov 2017 5:34 p.m. PST

28mm Fanatik

Oooooo, ogling right now. Wow, that's a lot of detail.

Wait a second, that's an actual human person? Ok, that's bit weird.

Frankly, I prefer the ones from my previous post:

That first one looks like an alien/human hybrid. Or a Nordic alien trying to blend in with humans. Darn Russkies ! Knew they were experimenting with aliens & their DNA ! huh?

These camo'd up gals … well … sure they look cute … But is that an AK slung over her shoulder ? huh?

They deal with sexual harassment in the most direct manner.

Wish I still had my full size GI Joe, had all sorts of outfits including scuba gear ( my dad was a diver)

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP In the TMP Dawghouse18 Nov 2017 9:09 a.m. PST

Yeah, I had about 8 GI Joes them plus a Cpt Action … I too wish I still had them. They'd be worth some $$$ now if they were in good shape. evil grin

chironex21 Nov 2017 5:22 p.m. PST

"Toy soldiers" means something rather different now, this not being Victorian times. "Toy Trains", in turn, also has a different relationship to "Model railways" than it did then. It is a symptom of low memory, memory leakage, or terminal self-absorption.

Aotrs, some people actually would do that. I can't guarantee their success. HoTT allows such things, such as the bloke with the army of Thomas gashapons.
