Hey guys! I'm looking for a ruleset to use 2mm Irregular Renaissance models with. I was somewhat inspired by the PC and tablet game Pike and Shot. I am hoping to make some quick-play rules for a grid using the Perry Miniatures Travel Battle boards. I was just wondering what rules were out there. Thanks! |

Peter Pig's ECW rules "Regiment of Foote" uses such a system: peterpig.co.uk/rules.html I bought the PDF just a few days ago, and am still reading through it, so can't vouch for it- but it looks promising. That page has a link to their own run-down of what's involved. They are designed with PP's own 15mm's in mind, but IMO would work fine for the smallest scales. I HAD Baccus 6mm in mind when I bought it. |

May I suggest using Irregulars own Battle in a Box rules? They are designed for 2 and 6mm Nic |

Nic, have you seen their rules? I was hoping for an opinion on them. Thanks |

Seen them, but not played for 30 odd years, drop Ian a line at Irregular, he is very helpful. Nic |

I just wrote my own as I feel that 2mm rules need to cover some very specific things. The scale lends itself to big battles as you can cram a lot of units onto a relatively small table. So working to the strengths of 2mm and handling the restrictions of the castings and allowing for what I wanted to play out on the table I came up with the following: - 1:1 figure to model ratios, - ground scale to match figure scale (so 1mm to the yard/metre/pace at this scale the difference is negligible) - weapon ranges to be accurate to ground scale - no casualty removal - focus on unit avoiding loss of internal command and control so disorganisation punished heavily. It's not as hard as you might think. Arriving at the core concepts and mechanisms is straight forward. The major issue is pulling it all together as a coherent whole. Give it a try you may very well create the next big thing! |
