I found a couple packs of these out of a discount bin last week:

There were no others like them (everything else either Essex, Jacobite, Minifigs, or Naismith). I think they're quite nice, but I can't figure out who made them so I can check out the rest of the line. They rider is a tad bigger than Essex, but not unmixable (though the horses may be another matter). Can anyone here please help me out?

It has a look of Freikorp, part of TSS link
I can't find the specific figure, though from the more active horse it looks like the dragoon figure may be a replacement.
Is there anything under the base?

I've got a couple of those in the leadpile somewhere. I think it's one of the old Mike's Models range that Essex will still cast to order – probably MIPC4, see link

I had looked at FK, but I don't think it is them. It is stylistically similar, but a bit "cleaner" than any FK I've seen. I will probably end up mixing these in with FK. Their horses look to match up pretty well.

The base-bottoms have been "scraped". Many were in baggies with no headers, some had handwritten labels with (very) general descriptions. I suspect all of the minis in the discount bin were formerly of someone's lead mountain (maybe even the owner's).

I found the box on the way out the door, but when I saw it, I just HAD to (no save) dump and sort through it. It took forever to pick through and squint at all the tiny, unmarked, crumpled and often marginally transparent baggies…just ask my wife. grin

Well, that's good and bad! I have looked at that page a dozen times, wondering what-

"They are noted and remembered more for their "charming character" than detailed design and accurate proportions…"

-really entailed. grin

But they're darned cute, and fun to paint as well. I think they'd look great on the tsbletop.

Well, if you happen to run across them, please let me know. I may take Essex up on it.

Thank you both for your input!

Yes,Mike's Models. I received mine from the designer himself on a visit to the UK in 1986. He gave a me a baker's dozen in case there was damage from crossing the Pond.Nice figures and an excellent human being.
