What's your favorite boardgame with miniatures?

Here's a starting list of ones I like, add nominations for others if you like them:

Airfix Battles
Battle-Cry (Milton Bradley)
BattleTech
BloodBowl
Broadsides (Milton Bradley)
Dogfight (Milton Bradley)
Hit the Beach (Milton Bradley)
Ogre
Space Hulk
Thunderbirds
Warhammer Quest

DisasterWargamer Supporting Member of TMP04 Aug 2017 8:51 p.m. PST

I would add

Heroscape
Wings of War/Glory
Flash Point
Samurai Swords/Ikusa
Skirmish
Conquest of the Empire
Memoir '44
Sergeants
Samurai Battles
Age of Battles series

The Beast Rampant04 Aug 2017 9:51 p.m. PST

Blood Rage

Rum & Bones

Mice & Mystics

Arcadia Quest

Rivet Wars

Leviathans

D&D: Wrath of Ashardalon (and Ravenloft, and others in the series)

David Manley04 Aug 2017 9:52 p.m. PST

Monopoly
Zombies
Trafalgar

Spooner604 Aug 2017 11:11 p.m. PST

Star Wars Rebellion.

Samurai Elb05 Aug 2017 1:39 a.m. PST

From MB: Shogun (the first version of Samurai Swords, Ikusa, still with those nice little plastic swords which are missing in Ikusa).

Fram Academy Games: 1775, 1754 and hopefully the upcoming 878 Viking Invasions of England will became an fovorite game too.

Good catch on Monopoly.

Also add some of the versions of Risk. My copy is the old wooden pieces. My son's copy has Napoleonic figures, and he has a Star Wars version too

Various modern Risk variants (except the Star Wars one … I like Star Wars, but those didn't seem to have "flavor", just SW minis).

Volstagg Vanir05 Aug 2017 7:50 a.m. PST

Cthulhu Wars

Incursion
Man'o'War
Scythe
Takenoko (and why not…?)
Tokaido (Ditto)
Ninja All Stars
Super Dungeon Explore
The Others: Seven Deadly Sins
Zombicide

It would be interesting to see the differences in nominations on a Board Game site
(such as BoardGameGeek ) as opposed to a miniatures oriented site.

Dungeon Saga
Heroquest
Warhammer Quest
Battle Masters
Battle Cry (Hasbro/Avalon Hill)
Battleship Galaxies: The Saturn Initiative
Conquest of the Empire
Dungeons & Dragons Electronic Game (way back machine)
Dungeon!
Risk: Star Wars 2015 edition (plays more like The Queen's Gambit than Risk).
Betrayal at House on the HIll
D&D: Conquest of Nerath (basically an Axis&Allies variant, only more fun, IMHO.)

Games that use miniatures as markers, but not really as what they represent:
Risk: 40th Anniversary Ed., Lord of the Rings Trilogy Ed., 2210 AD Ed., Star Wars Attack of the Clones Ed., Star Wars Original Trilogy Ed.. Godstorm. No, the figs have little to do with what they represent (aside from the Death Star), but they're nice figs in fun games.

I don't include X-Wing, Wings of War/Glory, Sails of Glory and the like because they actually aren't board games,* but are miniatures games in their own right.** They're just pre-paints that happen to be mass produced.

* There's no board. Kind of rules 'em out as "board games."

**Miniatures behave distinctly as what each is supposed to represent, with a 1:1 relationship; they're not markers for some abstract concept nor counters for tracking amounts of forces.

I made a version of Clue that uses zombies. Cludo for the UK folks.

I also made a miniatures version of Awful Green Things from Outerspace, with Playmobil figures.
